Kia Ora DAnthonyGTR A! Riding a slow bike on an adventure is SO much better than being in a car. With the bike you are fully immersed in your environment. Hi Tom. Great setup you have there. Given me some great ideas. Is the beautiful teardrop trailer braked please?. Plus how does it react being towed on a windy day please Tom?. Thanks for your videos ❤
@thetinysideoftiny76252 жыл бұрын
Kia Ora Billy Bob! I can’t thank you enough for the beautiful and deeply touching poem. I had tears in my eyes brother! The trailer does not have brakes. The Vespa has dual drum brakes and stops the combo pretty well. The trailer weighs about 170 pounds…about the weight of a passenger so I feel like the bike is equipped to handle it. Wind is a different story. It’s not fun. The first video I did (Thanksgiving vid) there was high cross winds on the way to the campground. My friend Rob was in a car in front of me. He said in the rear view mirror I was riding the bike in a severe sideways lean to counter the cross winds. I got hit by a few hard gusts that made the bike lurch. I’ve been towing trailers with scooters for 20 years so I knew I could handle it, but unsettling nonetheless :)
@BillyBob-uc9zp2 жыл бұрын
@@thetinysideoftiny7625 Wow! Scary moment i bet with the cross winds. Well handled. I've had motorcycles all my life. Two wheels have always united people. I'm just looking around for a low mileage Piaggio X9 250 2004 or older. Plenty fast enough, 90 uk mpg and handle a treat due to low slung weight and a stiff trellis frame. They have the Honda engine upto 2004 which is bombproof, and being my only mode of transport it needs to be. Not as good looking as your Vespa, but it'll do for me. 170 pounds is super light for a teardrop. Well done Tom. Glad you like the poem. Thanks for the info. Look forward to your future videos 😎

Came across your videos when googling. I'm building one similar to yours. It's the one on bicyclecaravan site. It's called the Bicycle Caravan. I redesigned it in Fusion 360 and modified it. Did you use poor man's fiberglass technique? The roof seems to be made of painted foam and those partial cuts to make it bendable. I plan on using 1" pink foam insulation board sandwiched between 5.2mm Luan boards. Make the interior shell 1st, then glue the foam to the outside of the interior shell, then the exterior shell panels board. I want to find out if I can skip the exterior shell using Luan boards, and just do the poor man's fiber glass instead. But I have to say, the beauty of epoxied Luan wood is on another level, compared to any canvas. You did a great job. The workmanship is of an experienced builder.
@thetinysideoftiny76252 жыл бұрын
Kia Ora PicoNano! I did use poor man's fiberglass on both the inside and the outside of the caravan. It is much lighter than Luan. The PMF is more durable than you might expect. Once the PFM is applied the entire structure becomes extremely ridged. Thank for the kind words. I could not have completed this project without the help of my friends Lucy, Jesse, and Rob. It was a team effort that we all enjoyed. Thanks for watching :)

@@thetinysideoftiny7625 I'm in Canada. I have a 1000W electric scooter which will be towing this with. There are many moose out in the wild here. They get pissed off if you look at them the wrong way. I want something that withstands the attack of a moose or black bear. You New Zealanders have it easy. I think I'll go with poor mans fiber glass for the outside, but use epoxy instead of paint. I've used cotton with epoxy on corner fillets of LongEZ experimental fiberglass aircraft I built back in 2000. It's tougher than fiberglass composite of the same thickness, but a bit heavier. This way, I won't deal with fiberglass again. Thanks for sharing your video with the rest of us.

Tom, I watch too many videos, of out doors and nomads. Your videos are some of the best, keep up the good work. One comment if I may, when I was younger my father took 8 mm movies, which I still watch 50 years late. We learned from watching them that when dad would pan the camera from left to right or up to the top it was to fast. He slowed down and then we could enjoy what he was seeing and filming. I see this in 99% of the videos on youtube. Maybe U could slow down a little so we could enjoy what U are looking at. Not to hurt your feelings, just help. Be safe my friend and keep going strong. Kia Ora Dean! Glad you like the latest video. I did find the Decibel’s bandcamp page. Gorgeous music that has me hooked. I especially like “It’s Not Me” from “Scene Not Herd”…which BTW is a *brilliant* album title. Just a thought, but maybe I can come out to CA over one of my school breaks and film a special episode…maybe feature The Decibel’s music as the soundtrack to the video? My head is already full of ideas lol. Anyway - thanks for your continued support brother :)

Kia Ora Celio! I will tell you that Brazil found ME :) I posted my first video and Brazil quickly became my biggest audience. I have so much love and support from your country that I made a special episode as a “thank you”. I made feijoada and farofa to celebrate. I want to thank you for your support of my channel. Go after the nomad life. It is joyful and healing :)

When I was in Tokyo a friend took me to a curry restaurant that had been staffed by the same ladies for decades. They were in their 80s and had been there since they were schoolgirls. They never cleaned the curry pot and just kept making the curry every day. My friend told me that Japanese curry was taken from the British so its milder than Indian. I enjoy your videos and have been scootering for forty years.
@thetinysideoftiny76252 жыл бұрын
Kia Ora Jukebox Gothic! I’ll bet that was the best curry on the planet! I was pretty excited to try the S&B Japanese curry. It did not disappoint. I will def make it again and again. I agree that it was a lot milder than Indian curry (which I also love). I’ve only been riding 20 years so I’m a newbie compared to you. Thanks so much for your support of my channel :)
@JukeboxGothic2 жыл бұрын
@@thetinysideoftiny7625 It was definitely the best and the ladies were so proud of it which made it all the nicer. I have motorcycles as well as the Vespa px200 I ride as daily transport. I don't have a car so it gets used for everything. You've inspired me to get adventuress on one of my old motorbikes in the future.

@@JukeboxGothic It’s amazing what you can accomplish on a scooter. A few years back I rode a bone stock 50cc Honda Ruckus almost 8,000 miles across the US and Mexico. Solo and pulling a cargo trailer I built for it. I love doing impossible things on seemingly incapable little machines :)

@@thetinysideoftiny7625 That's really cool. I bet you got a lot of thinking done on that trip. Always enjoyed that zone you get into on a long ride. Bit like a trance but really aware of what's around you.

Your ardent attachment to a machine that requires towing for 1 1/2 hrs before you can ride it is puzzling. I think you would be better served by a bigger bike that could tow a small camper safely. But then again, to each his own. There are lots of people who use underpowered machines to do all kinds of things in many third-world countries. That said, the idea of a bike pulled camper is a very nice way to explore the country..
