Here's an interesting fact about Build. His suit might be based on eutectic lines. When mixing materials, alternating lines of two phases form below a certain temperature. It's kind of fitting for Build, since the gimmick is about mixing two "elements". P.S. based on this, and on what he says during the first episode. Sento might have been working as a Material Scientist at the start of the series

Watching episode ten of the original Kamen Rider, I always assumed the accident was when they were filming the monster brawl. It was like "Oh dear, he fell off this bridge while filming, didn't he?" And found myself on the edge of my seat during the fight because of it. More so than the fact he was outnumbered by several monsters. Guess I was worried for nothing.

Reportedly, Inoue and Yasuko Kobayashi do not get along due to Kobayashi often intentionally subverting classic tokusatsu tropes and ideals (famously, in Ryuki she challenged the idea that a Kamen Rider is a symbol for justice) which Inoue sees as disrespectful to his father's work. Ironically, while most of Kobayashi's work with KR is well-regarded, Inoue is frequently criticized by the fandom for relying on the same old tropes (dead women as motivation for men, conflicts caused by a lack of communication, etc) and is often blamed for the later half of Hibiki being pretty bad, although to be fair that's not really his fault due to the executives demanding rewrites so frequently they had to start filming the final episode before the script was finalized

Here's another fact. Kamen Rider (original) was technically one of the early live-action tv show based on manga since the creator Shotaro Ishinomori based it on his manga Skull Man

This wasn't really uncommon by the time Kamen Rider came out. Ambassador Magma and Giant Robo predate Kamen Rider off of the top of my head and there were quite a few others. There was even a short lived live-action Tetsujin 28 series in 1960. Kamen Rider was a little unique in that Toei wanted to adapt Skull Man but thought it was too scary so asked Ishinomori to make a new character for them specifically for TV that he would debut in manga, which he'd do again for Gorenger.

Nice, very interesting. I have to admit, the idea of even MORE Ryuki makes my brain want to go into over drive trying to figure out how that would have worked. I figured that every single monster would have to be bonded to a Rider, but that is a subject for another time. I didn't know that Bandai was the one who came up with the fruits motif, though I always wondered about it. I thought that maybe they were just trying to try for something new, just like using locks as a transformation device.

RX, Shin, ZO and J are considered Showa even though they were actually made during Heisei. It would probably more more accurate to call them the Ishinomori era since the real changes in Kamen Rider's style and storytelling came after his death, but I guess it's easier and less confusing to people for Toei to just lump them together under the Showa banner.

Yet it got a really incredible story, knowing the writer, and what he do He does actually make "cute, innocent things" go havoc REALLY FAST and NATURAL. Most famous example is probably Magika madoka, everyone knows how that went... If you like how Ryuki went, you would probably also like Gaim. Story, the style themes are stupid. The music themes are pretty good tho, Ranbu Escalation is damn on point.

There is no such thing as a stupid theme, heck, this is a series about guys in latex suits kicking other people in suits and making them explode. What matters is how you develop the ideas in a way they match the story and make them interesting to watch.

Jaden Jerries Agree to disagree. Animal themes are one thing, fruits make no sense, period. The show isn’t about “latex suits and kicking”. It’s about “a grasshopper motif hero and kicking”. Unless you are willing to see the shoe in it’s own fictional light you can call anything stupid. And “fruit motif heroes kicking other fruits” is admittedly much more stupid than the rest.

"A grasshopper motif hero", how does that doesn't sound any less stupid, since the first thing that comes to my mind when you say it like that is literally a giant grasshopper kicking people around, but we both know that this isn't the case because Ichigou's design is not literally a grasshopper, but a costume that shows traits of one, the same way Gaim is not an orange but has elements of one, not just that, but the fruits are just complementary, when the main motif are samurai and knights. There is nothing that makes animals more important than fruits, both exist in our reality, both are depicted in religious myths, and fruits even make more of an appearance in our daily lives, *and* have more importance to us than wild animals do. We are just not *used* to see many themes inspired by fruits, exactly because people like to make statements like the one you just did. Over that, wouldn't you say that by having such an unusual theme, and still being an awesome story that fits it, makes this series in question even more admirable? With that in mind, how can you even say that an idea has less potential than any other? But if you want to say something is "stupid" exactly for being unconventional and unexplored, go for it, your opinion.
