Lovely job buddy! It's sometimes hard following other people's work on jobs like this..but like you said your governed by what's there..did a job few weeks ago and had a nightmare trying to keep gauge with the existing brickwork, before I decided to just ignore it and do what I thought was best and what looked best. Keep up the good videos buddy always a nice watch..you seem like a really genuine geeza 🍻💪

Did building control not want a new concrete foundation put in? Every garage conversion we do we have to put a new foundation in or concrete lintels spanning the entire opening brick to brick.

@reeslodge24
@reeslodge24 3 жыл бұрын
It’s a bad habit that most bricklayers have but it’s quicker to just throw it on the floor when you scrape your snots you might not be immediately by a spot board. Less time returning to the spot board makes for a quicker bricklayer

@@scottnever8732 thermal break is nothing to do with vertical dpc a thermal break is if you was putting an extension on the back of a house and you left the external door in place....hence the saying there is a thermal break between the 2 ...and its the absolute opposite its being made habitable all alterations and extension that are habitable should be done with building regs and checked i do it everyday of my life and have done for nearly 25 years as a bricklayer by trade and a builder. So can somebody please tell me why no bricklayers on KZbin can't lay a brick with a full cross joint?????? When you tool them you have to point them all. Look at 17:00 in the video most joints need pointed to fill them. When you put the last brick in double joint the brick your laying and give the others a smear the mortar on you brick won't pull off and you need not blade it to fill it. No clue why most hold a trowel with their thumb past the end of the ferrule and get their hand in the mortar. Maybe some limp ass bricklayer. Obviously he has enough arm strength to keep his hand out of the mortar. Going into the toothing I just cut corner of the brick not split it if not cleaning the toothing out completely. Decent hand but to much back and forth on the bed mortar especially if you're worrying about time and dropping mortar on the ground. You only have to walk in it then. Two swipes for a joint not three 33% faster. Waste of time filling tops of cross joints they should be full already. Your video skipped over you filling all the vertical perps. Two get the bed ready to lay two brick you made 11 movements. Waste of time and energy. Dampen the brick to lay them tighter easier. You spread less also. I remember when bricklayers didn't need a plastic guard to use a chisel. Your back at each block cross joint 3-4 times to strike them . Still one of the better bricklayers on KZbin. Not sure if that's much of a compliment 😜

I bet your a barrel of laughs on the beer… lighten up buddy.. Having the bottle to show your work on such a public forum earns my respect any day! I for one wouldn’t do it. His channel isn’t all about full joints , perfect toothing, bang on plumb every single time.. it’s about the whole building game .. back stories , advice , banter , learning, respect for the brickies of the old days.. there’s much more to it than being a perfect bricklayer and I couldn’t give one shit if a perp wasn’t full or if I didn’t dampen a brick to help grind..all the best bud, hope your not so harsh On your next comment 👍
