The most beautiful thing about this game is that all the story is just a pretext, a metaphora (i won't detail the subject it is conveying not to spoil). A similar game you can try out is RiME, which also turns out to be another metaphora of the same thematic. I had played Rime before, and realizing what GRIS was all about litteraly broke my heart. The OST makes it all even more powerful and heartbreaking

This world is filled with cascading infinities. A kaleidoscope of information explodes out from a single instant in time, over and over, for all of eternity. And out of all of them, it's moments like this, listening to this damn song, that I find the most impactful. I will never be able to comprehend all that there is, but as a mortal being confined to their own brain, I still find incredible amounts of enjoyment from pieces such as this. Thank you, GRIS. -Mel

It is weird how the meaning of art, always lies in the eyes of the beholder... For pieces like this, I tend to ignore comment sections, but in a spur, I took a quick glance and saw people speak about their own (the indended?) interpretation of the games meaning. My point for writing this is: Whatever you thought while playing this, or hearing this music, it is absolutely fine to think that. For you, this game can be about depression, the loss of a loved one, or the pain of stepping on legos. And all of those are fine, because they are your true thoughts and feelings, that you absolutely feel.

I haven't played the game yet. for someone who never gone through the gameplay , I'm crying listening to it. I'm a grown man and yet still the masterpiece made me cry. right now I'm traveling on bus, it's raining outside, all windows are shut. the rain drops on the window, this beautiful peice of art just a great combination.

Now that I think of it- this story kinda reminds me of Greek myths, the one about Persephone and Demeter to be specific- when Gris' mother can't hear her voice - the world crumbles, kinda like when Persephone is kidnapped and her mother stops tending to the world.

I finally got to play and finish this game the day before yesterday and cried at the end, but during that first initial playthrough I thought the woman statue was like an allegory of you feeling of creativity? And how you have to travel with Gris and gain it back bit by bit. But then, last night, I found all the mementos and got the extra scene. And the fact that the statue is a representation of her mother and how the game is actually about the stages of grief and just- As someone who is very close to her mother, this really hit me and made me think about how that's going to be me one day. I'm going to be going through that when my mama eventually leaves this world, the world is going to be grey and lifeless and I just started sobbing. I've never had a game hit something so deep in my heart before and I just- I'm going to have to make that journey, the journey of seeing colors in the world again and be able to feel happy again and I just really, and really glad that I played this work of art.

@@maldino2917 Celeste is a different type of game, it's a hard-core precision platformer which requires lots of skill while games like Gris and Journey are very light puzzle / platforming games and their focus is on the emotional side and the cinematic experience, not so much on the game mechanics :P

Fantastic game even though there's sorrow but it's like seeing art magically come to life if you keep believing there's always hope for the future so the 5 stages of grief, the statues are her mother somehow died (cancer or Illness) and this is the girls mind going through the struggles of having to cope with it all in the end the girl sends her mother spirit free into the heavens stars to move on and be happy, she walk to the stars and awakens from her dream.
