Nice dude. I know hand cut joinery is a bit of sideline thing for you but I can't tell you how much of a difference it made to me building a proper solid work bench with a vice. Using hand tools becomes a pure joy once you've got that sorted.

Congrats on the KZbin recognition as well, and we watch because we enjoy...the content and your thorough explanations make your channel great to watch...and the sense of humour...well much same as ours over the ditch.....PS: sorry bout all the smoke we've been sending your way 😁😁😁😁 Keep up the great work mate, love the channel

Keep up the good work, you, Finish Carpentry TV, and Insider Carpentry are my favorite carpentry KZbinrs. I love how humble you are, and how you share your learning experiences with us. With the joinery work, I would be inclined to just use power tools made for the purpose. I'm latecomer to carpentry, having come from a telecoms background, and my solution for lack of skill is simply to get a tool to compensate. I decided my hinge installs were too crap using chisels, so I got a trim router and figured out how to use that to get them perfect, and I mean perfect. Maybe I'm lazy, but I think machines produce the most consistent and precise results.

Hey man, When I done my apprenticeship in Scotland you are trained in college as a carpenter & a joiner, regardless of wether you do site or bench work, the first block release we had in college we done a variety of basic wood joints, corner half laps, half laps, dove tail half laps and mortise & tenon joints. They do this to test your basic skills with hand tools and attention to detail. Did you have to do these in training? I’ve never had to make another mortice and tenon joint on site, but I used to thoroughly enjoy the bench work in college. Can’t say I’d like to do it full time though. Cheers

Scott, gunna help you out with your extension cord to make sure it NEVER twists. First straighten the damn thing out. Make a normal loop, make another loop but instead of just joining them reverse your hand when you do so the loop is opposite to the first, do this every second loop and your cord will NEVER bind and you can throw the whole length without twists. This will also help with the life of the cord. You will find after a while that the cord will naturally be straight every time you want to use it.
@axelbergman5077
@axelbergman5077 4 жыл бұрын
Using the technique of winding the cord around you're arm makes for some intense twisting action. Also starting you're winding at the plug end of you're power tools. yes i might have som cord ocd....

Mortise and tenon how ever complex it´s like a sport or art or mastery of anything, repeat, repeat, repeat and after them 10k hours put into mastering the craft you can to it really great. I feel like the modern market systems have robbed us of that, there is rarely any people in the crafts that have managed to do something for that long now that they could call themselves the real master.
