I watched sooo many reviews of this saw as I was looking to buy one. I think the main gripe for most reviewers was the trigger position, and it nearly put me off buying it. However I bit the bullet and bought one... And I'm so glad I did! The trigger position does take a little getting used to, but after a while it's fine, don't let it be the decision maker! It's the best saw I've ever owned albeit a little pricey but hey I wanted to treat myself. 👍

Great saw especially kzbin.infoUgkxxnKxcY0vm4xjW8xkPbjaHuKt10gr-wG_ considering how drastically cheaper it is than every other track saw on the market. Only things I would mention is replace the blade immediately, the 24 tooth blade supplied leaves a lot to be desired.

I remember when I first heard about Festool my thought was "wow that is way way too expensive" so I went another decade without ever buying anything Festool. Recently purchased the track saw, dust extractor and a sander because I did particularly well on a few jobs and had the extra money to spend....all I can say is I wish I would have bought in to this brand years and years ago, all the ways it could have saved me time and frustration would be innumerable , I have no bought THIS saw just yet but am considering it. If it is anything as good as the track saw then it is worth every penny.The thing I love most about the track saw is I can break down sheet goods safely and accurately on a job site. at home I have a full size table saw with a table built around large enough to accommodate cutting full sheets but even in that case I am finding I like the track saw better at least for the basic breaking down of the sheet into more easily handled pieces.it is very quiet and even if you only use the bag it comes with instead of a dust extractor it is nearly dust free.I really really love it.

I bought the Kapex 60 Scott and think it’s fantastic. I know you said you aren’t a fan of the stand, this isn’t a justification of it but I only work with one arm and it is so easy for my to assemble and disassemble with the extendable side wings😀. Scott, I have been using power miter boxes since 1979. I found the Kapex to be the best so far. Owning this saw since 2010, I have found that the saw plugged directly to an outlet, motor is stronger, vac outlet says good for 2 amps, this saw draws 11 amps under no load. Add blue tooth to the vac if your vac allows so you can plug saw in directly into wall outlet if possible. Increase hose size to 36mm. I cut about 90% of the little vents out of the front of the blade guard, now with laser on, head up, I can see two solid red laser lines on the stock to be cut. Hand position over blade makes for almost no deflection. Have fun with the saw, makes trim work simple...

Scott, I use the Dewalt stand with my Kapex. I laminated two 1\2" pieces of ply together to make a more sturdy intermediate filler. I originally did a large piece as you did but then the saw was heavy again so I cut down to two pieces just a by larger than the Kapex foot and that works great bolts to through Kapex and Dewalt adapter. Easy to move on and off saw. Only drawback would be added height for space in your van.

I see no reason to replace my original Kapex. I really like the Festool blades. If tried a couple other premium blades and still came back to my Festool blades. @@1414141x MDF is a bit more sensitive yeah. Often it's laminated to help against the water stuff and make it a bit more resistant, but then you can't really fix it once it gets dinged up, like by a chair or something. With wood you can just paint it again, but you can't properly paint over laminate without that part catching your eye. But still, what he said is true. Wood will warp, MDF won't. If you got an application where it's more important that it's really straight and stays that way rather than standing up to wear, you should use MDF.

One trick I learned ist that the small festool sustainers are the same height as the saw base, this comes in handy as long as you dont have an saw stand but have to cut long pieces. Greetings from an german carpenter
@NeilDunlop4 жыл бұрын
There's 2 holes in the base (that capture a M8 bolt head) for attaching it to a MFT type top - bolts go through the top and then down through the top and secured from underneath. I use those to attach it to a board with the DeWalt brackets bolted to it. It means you're free to take it off the mounting board and use it on flat surfaces with systainers as supports if needed.

I have the Kapex 120 in the shed, that's where it'll stay, it is a nice saw, accuracy, blade change & angle adjustment are good but i suspect on site it'll get trashed, it is bulky, i had to use aluminium duct tape to pack out & stop the fence from moving & it doesn't cut 100mm posts, , my old Dewalt lasted 20+yrs on site so that's what i have for carrying in the van 👍 Enjoy your toy 👍

Hey man, a couple tips from a long time Kapex user: Zip Ties. I zip tie the detent override and the blade guard. I'm some one who almost never has to make perfect 0's or 45's. Most of my work as is done in fractions of angles and having to over come 4 detents and then possibly stepping in to one when I'm trying to cut 44.5 or some thing really pisses me off. Zip tie the Blade guard for obvious reasons. Safety first and all that but I honestly feel that some times that blade guard is unsafe. If you have any OSHA types (or equivalent) drop by you just cut the zip and you're compliant again. I guess since you film yourself all the time that might not be a good idea. Buy a zero clearance insert. I paid like 20usd for mine and it really helps with losing tiny cuts and not getting a bunch of build up down below. Some day your blade will bite in to some thing in there and you will just have to replace it any way. Just so you know, the motors on the Kapex have always been crap. I've personally burnt through 4 saws. Most of the time it happens around the 1 year mark for me. I've taken to buying the saw, getting it repaired (under warranty) and then using it until the warranty is about up. Then I sell that saw and buy a new one. They have "fixed" the motor issue multiple times over the years but I am still skeptical. This newer generation seems to have actually fixed the problem so far. I've had mine since summer of 2019 and its still making dust, so fingers crossed. I hope you remained happy with your purchase. Like I said, I've burned up 4 of these bad boys and keep buying them because the are the best. The accuracy is unapparelled. The features are incredibly well thought out. The weight is best in class.

@ontic23544 жыл бұрын
That’s funny, I really like my Kapex saw (exact same as yours), but I absolutely LOVE the Festool stand with both side wings or ‘trimming attachments’. The weight and mobility of the stand is amazing, so quick and easy to move and set up for a sole operator like myself, and once set up/figured out, using the measures and stops on the ‘trimming attachments’ has changed so many workflows for the better. If I had to choose the Kapex saw on a different stand vs a different top-shelf saw on a Kapex stand with attachments, it would be a toss-up. I work outside mostly so the Festool laser is next to useless, but I am very happy with it as a total package. Also for me, make sure you check the zero on the bevel adjustment, every day. Moving the saw, especially packing down and setting up on the stock stand, seems to always bump it out of zero.
