DeWalt DCB090 VS Fake USB Power Source for Li-ion batteries

Short review DeWalt DCB090 and its fake/copy USB Power Source for Li-ion batteries. 12V/20V MAX USB Power Source for Li-ion batteries.
In this video I will compare original DeWalt DCB090 and its fake/copy from China.
I will measure their output USB voltage and will take them apart. I will show you what inside of each of them is.

Great job for the video. Here in the US the original cost $39.99 at lowes or online knock off they go for $10. I just bought a knock off with integrated led flash, 2 USB charger, and 5v out for heated dewalt jacket for about $17 US dollars Nd it really works. Dewalt is really way behind & losing money on these gadgets.

Biggest difference seem to be the freewheel diode. Dewalt is using big honking through hole part (round next to usb) whereas copy is using small surface mount. There's also big heat sink area for the FET switch (silver area on bottom), but not really connected to anything for the heat to go.

The footprint for a barrel jack on the DeWALT version tells me they planned for it to also work as a 12V Max and/or 20V Max charger, much like the USB-C version that doubles as a fast charger for 20V Max (DCB094K).

It's called aftermarket, not fake. Nowhere on the product or seller page claimed it is a Dewalt product. In fact so many genuine Dewalt products are manufactured in China.

Technically, the DeWALT’s USB ports are upside-down since the USB logo on the plug is always supposed to line up with the USB cable next to the port on the adapter, laptop, etc. The thing is, even Apple violated this with the microUSB to Lightning adapter. Apple is part of the USB consortium who developed the standard they are both violating.

You should of tested both USB ports to see what the actual output ratings were. Supposedly they are not the same... one of them should be 1A, the other 2A.

Does the fake one provide voltage drop protection so that it cuts off the power in order to protect the battery from dropping beyond recharge levels?

NO and they will drain the battery beyond the recharge point. Once that happens the battery is trashed.

No it does not have a more accurate gauge level this copy of dewalt will drain your battery until is completely dead then battery will stop takingcharge so you will save $15 when you buy it but kill every battery you use it on

This adapter doesn't lock to the battery, it will come apart easily making it useless In situations. I just bought one and to my surprise they don't stay on the battery well.( design flaw ) dewalt or not.

The DeWalt adapter is provided with all of their heated jackets. They have the same problem of easily disconnecting and your jacket goes cold.

As a Chinese, I have no doubt about the ability of some Chinese manufacturers to make fake. Make fake is shame after all , and also illegal. For individuals, fakes can indeed save some money. Although I ended up buy the DEWALT, from my personal experience, fakes can almost reach 90% of the original brand quality and just half price.

In fact i seen it by 4 times cheaper than the original in the area where i live, but had the doubt about the functioning. And how it looks it does not work correctly, that was a very useful comparation for me 👍👍

It is a generic type product. Have you never heard of that? It is not fake. Just like the Jackery powerbank. It is selling under all kinds of logos, and usually for a much lower price than Jackery has on their products. I am quit sure that Jackery did not invent this powerbank. They bought it from China and put their logo on it.

I noticed that the fake is missing a Japanese transistor or capacitor which is coloured Blue and missing a diode - Why would you save $15 to buy fake charger and risk your ~ $800 iPad or $1200 smart phone ? ... Well... This worked for him this time ... But the next person who buys a fake product, it might render his $1200 Device useless... I am not a fan of buying FAKE product to save pennies and encourage and promote UN-ETHICAL people who rip off other people... If it is too good to be true then it is fake. If the Product's advertised says the product is non-original then you are making a choice to buy it, and that is different than if you are deceived.

They are all useless because it only produce 2.1A over 5V which is useless nowdays with today mobile phone all equip with Quick Charge 3.0. My DIY 3d printed power source give you 2 usb ports with QC 3.0 that charge your Samsung, Apple, Huawei or any phone with comform to QC3.0 in less than half the time compare to original power source

20v 5000mah battery= 90wh! phone battery 4.2v 3000-4000mah .. 10-15wh... is that mean one 20v 5ah battery, can charge 5-6 times phone battery. YES OR NOT ? anybody try this. thanks

Something like that, in theory. But you will lose some power on transformation 18v to 5v. I think 4-5 times for sure

5000mah is small for a battery bank. That type of capacity is only good for emergency charging. Unless it maybe uses the cells individually in groups then that would be a game changer.
