First Look - Bailey Unicorn Black Edition

Managed to track down a Cabrera with approx £2.5K off the RRP, a free Westfield Omega 400 Air Awning and a Powrtouch Evolution Motor Mover fitted for £599. Also in the package is a free two night stay at the Dealership's site adjacent to the dealership so there's a hand over and walk through of the new van and the two nights to try everything out. Great service and deal, I'm very happy with all that.

We have a 2019 Cabrera, our second Bailey after a Vigo which we loved - apart from the bed, which when it was in it's night time pull out mode made it nigh on impossible to get around the bed, from either side. So we reluctantly changed to a Swift 560. Bedroom - perfect! Easy to get round, perfect bathroom layout. The rest of the caravan didn't suit us at all. So, as we loved the Bailey Vigo we went back to Bailey and got the Cabrera as it has a similar layout to the Swift. Now for the review based on several weekends and a 2 week holiday. The door opens in to the bathroom, not as shown in the layout illustration. This puts the light pull behind the door, totally impractical as you have to step in and close the door to access it, not great when it's dark! The sink bowl looks great, very modern, however, I'm 5ft 2ins and it's too high for washing in, I can't get my hands in properly. Also it makes using the tap extremely awkward. Bathroom cupboard needs to be an inch or 2 deeper and is poorly laid out. Can't see the point of the cut out for the breaker and it could do with an additional shelf. Laundry hamper is useless, way too small even for 2 people for a weekend, we use it as a cupboard. Loo roll is in a daft place, it gets wet when using the sink, and gets knocked off by towels or bodies. Bedroom: light is in an awkward place once the bed is pulled out, right over in the corner by the window. Once again the bed, in it's pulled out version is extremely difficult to get round. The side by the bathroom is only about 3 inches/75mm, so unless you're stick thin it's a struggle. Only one socket, situated for using a TV, i.e over the larger triangle table. I have to use a medical aid which needs to be plugged in so have to use an extension lead. One drawer would have been useful in the lower part of the wardrobe. The front of the caravan is terrific, other than the plate and cup holder is in the cupboard over the sink, which I can't reach, but I use a little folding step to access it. Summing up, for us the perfect caravan would be the front of the Bailey Cabrera and the bathroom and bedroom of the Swift 560. I realize that this is subjective, but I understand Bailey used to have this layout in a previous version of the Cabrera. Sometimes upgrades/new versions are not always an improvement.

We have a Black Edition Unicorn 🦄 Cadiz and it's gorgeous! We cant believe the value as it has so many extras in fact the only things we could add would be air con and auto levelling which we cant afford and not enough spare payload but would love. I think Bailey are the most innovative of all the manufacturers and although worried we would miss the front locker we dont at all. Mostly its very pretty and we love the front window. Our only gripe is the seating which is dire in the Unicorns due to weight restrictions and it goes flat in days . We have paid locally to refill our seats but upset we had to do that and i am talking to Bailey about this for myself and 400 plus others with same issue. The Cadiz layout is great for us, best we have had so far. 👍👍👍

Very underwhelmed. No Barcelona which has been our preferred layout for years,so won't be replacing with another Bailey. Would also seem that if you put anything in the front cornet lockers it will block the speakers.

we too prefer a more robust seat material with our bulldog and this season we upgraded to a swift from a bailey.

We're looking to buy a new caravan and the local dealer has offered a great deal on a phoenix but I just can't get past the no front storage! Am I being silly?

Might be worth looking at dealer specials like Bailey Ridgeway or Bailey Stowford. Depends which dealer you are near but those mentioned here are based on the Pheonix but come with extras like solar panel etc for not much more. Less storage at the front but more space inside 👍

8ft is great for seasonal,. but for regular towing i don't think they are good.

FINALLY I have caught up with your latest video Dan. Since I came across your channel after we returned from Kent mid July in our caravan, I've watched every video. In fact my obsession watching photography channels has taken a serious hit because I've been determined to catch up with your latest video. We're hoping to buy the Cabrerra, we prefer the upholstery in the previous model that has the split back rests. Will the 2018 / 2019 model still be available or is the Black Edition replacing them completely? Also we have looked in dozens of caravans by numerous manufacturers and for us, the Cabrerra style layout including Dan's Phoenix was the only one where you could get out of the bed without climbing over each other and with room around the edges to manoeuvre. Great channel Dan, keep up the good work.

Think they look brilliant cosmetically but do they stand the test of time ? How much are things really tested ? Would be good see a video of testing of the equipment inside the vans or as I say my Hotel on wheels , thanks again
