They do have an effect. I'm a fur trapper in the us. I trap beaver, foxes, coyotes, squirrels, etc. I live off of bang during the trapping season. 636 cans over 212 days in the season. If it wasnt for bang and soylent shakes I just could not get through the season. Especially with all the tanning, butchering, preserving of meat, or making baits and lures for my trap lines. If y'all can get it give the soylent a go in combo with bangs. I like to mix the chocolate and banana flavored powders to make my soylent shakes.

I have heard before that some europeans feel that root beer tastes like mouth wash and all I can say is they have obviously never had original flavor Listerine or they would think of another comparison. All jokes aside though, a lot of the soda pops in america were originally flavor base for medicines so I understand where the comparison comes from.

Well, firstly, Listerine has been the biggest brand of mouthwash this side of the pond since forever, although Original seems to have vanished as a flavour in recent years. And secondly, one of the ingredients of Listerine original is wintergreen. Today, the main flavour in root beer is wintergreen. It had been an ingredient for many years but when sassafras turned out to be carcinogenic, Wintergreen became the dominant flavour. Also, wintergreen is one of the main ingredients in the heat rub they pictured. It’s called “Deep Heat” around the world but called “Mentholatum” in the USA.

​@David Reynolds I think the original Listerine the OP (and others on this comment section) have been talking about is the Listerine Original Antiseptic that is yellowish, burns (mostly from alcohol), and tastes like a mix of bandaid and menthol. It doesn't state a specific flavor but it has eucalyptus, thymol, menthol, menthol salicylate as the main antiseptics. I'm guessing the last two are maybe what you're referring to as wintergreen in it because they may give off the mint flavor. Unfortunately it seems if you want the wintergreen I would go with the Antiseptics that say mint or Freshburst on them.

And speaking of the hospital, the original Listerine was developed as an antiseptic cleaner for operating rooms back in the day. The reason rootbeer tastes like Shiite in Ireland is because of the ingredient restrictions. If you tried a fresh icy mug in america it would be a whole nother experience. Rootbeer and sarsparilla were made from herbs and roots for people that didn't want to get drunk on beer or whiskey back in the old days because water was shiite without filtration systems.
