Its actually pretty cheap - just buy some not-the-lowest quality beef round, cut it in small pieces (depends on your preference), marinate it in soy sauce+black pepper (or in bourbon and brown sugar :D) and put it on skewer. Then put your oven to hot air, low temp and just hang in on there on the rack or something. 12+ hours and its done. You are basicaly paying for meat, bit of sauce and electricity.

It's made about 30 miles north of where I live. I remember when it was only sold locally. It's pure protein and great for hunting and fishing trips in remote places, because it stays fresh and is handy. We snack on it during the day and your energy doesn't crash. Drink plenty of water with it. The paper pouch is there to keep moisture from turning it bad. But, there's no worries with quality jerky.

Ok y'all got me addicted to watching Irish try vids and youre covering things that are (Jack links is way over priced) and my GF works in a JL distribution center in Laurens, IA, USA on the Jack pack line sealing 2 sticks of meat, cheese, and pretzels into the air tight containers and I worked there in high school as a fork lift operator and sent loads and loads to Canada, NZ, Australia and thousands of cases of jerky to the US armed forces when they were deployed in the middle east too

Yeah, its basically a food created to last long while you're crossing large swaths of the american continent. Pretty sure it was created by the native american population, and we immediately understood its gloriousness, because we were using hard tack, which is just a harder and dryer crouton with less flavor. And to this day it remains the primary source of energy during outdoor activities and long road trips across state lines.

You can always make your own. Its be cause it takes a lot to make it. For a pound of beef you will get about a quarter pound of jerky when done.

I love that Jack Links is corpo mid tier jerky and blowing Irish minds... most gas stations/ minimarts in the south and rurals have jerky stations. Usually unbranded and delish.
