Yeah. If price put the Metru over the Galtorians, price definitely put the Barraki over Gen 2. $20-$25 CAD per Toa was straight up the biggest reason I didn't collect the new ones. Not to mention, how could you talk about the Pit wave and not take into account Maxilos!? (Only drawback to the Barraki were the squid launchers in my opinion.)

godzillacc5 I never liked the Mahri when they came out (I must've been around 8, or 9 at the time), and, to this day, I only ever owned 3 of the sets from that wave, 2 of which where gifts. While the titan sets of this wave were pretty outsanding (I unfortunately never got any of those as a child), the Toa are still the main selling point of the franchise, and if they aren't up-to-par with the other sets in the wave, that really lowers its credibility.

godzillacc5 2006 was what made me a real hardcore fan, but then it was the perfect lead up to 2007 which made me like Bionicle SO much more. I was at the age where dark and creepy stuff was "cool" and it was still a toy yet dark and creepy. In my opinion there should've been a movie for that year

The Toa Mahri should have been up there, regardless of their pretty fragile pieces. The Characters were really cool, and it was a unique wave of Toa designs we’d never seen. This was the first wave I REALLY got into, even though I’d been following Bionicle for as long as I remember.

Man, the Paraka sets were so good. Loved the whole theme and vibe. That, the Toa Nuva and the Toa Metru were the best three years in my mind. Had the most memorable parts. Especially the Toa Metru, so much lore and added ideas came in those books

I both agree and disagree with the number 1 choice for a variety of reasons. First, while the set was iconic to the original toa, it did heavily deviate from their appearance and personality. The story was heavily flawed, and the sets were given an undeserved mix of dedication. Tahu given the most dedication while Pohatu and Lewa were given less. It also didn't take them long to screw up the toyline either. I will say it's good, as the ccbs combined with bionicle can be useful. As well as the knowledge that we may see old bionicle pieces given updated molds as the generation 2 merges back into generation 1.

It is just plain annoying for people to hate CCBS. It is a good building system. Just cause it was used for Hero Factory or isn't like the old system for Bionicle doesn't make it bad. Actually by comparing the old builds to the new ones, the new ones are a lot better..in my opinion. No broken sockets in 2015. The gear system works perfectly and the colors for the Toa are very similar to 2001 and 2002 Toa's colors.

NickonAquaMagna I don't mind CCBS. It works great on the new sets, and the new sets look wonderful. I just wish they could fix it up a bit more. Instead of making one torso piece to connect arms and legs and neck, they should do what the Inika build did and make it so you can elongate them instead of having to deal with open ball sockets. Other than that, the system is fine. It's being used right on the new BIONICLE.

Number 1 I agree with. The Nostalgia really hit me when I saw Tahu and the rest of the Toa being in stores, and also LoSS and the protectors look cool too. For the second wave Bionicle 2015, it was actually not bad. Let's hope the new Bionicle lasts for 6 years or more. I really like how they started 2015. Also I remember walking into target to pick up some more Toa and Protectors, and this kid is like, "Where is Hero Factory at?" I said, "Hero Factory isn't here anymore. It has been canceled meaning it won't have anymore sets coming out." He says, "Why is it canceled?" I said, "It was canceled because it wasn't doing well. However, if you see (I point to the new Bionicle sets), this was the line that basically made Hero Factory. It is Bionicle. It lasted for ten years, and it is back." I take my sets, walk away to pay for them and leave, and then I turned around and the kid was staring at me for what I told about Bionicle. Two days later, I go back to the same target and the same kid is there with his parents this time. He asks, "Why did Bionicle last 10 years?" I said, "Because it saved Lego. It also was a very successful line." One of the parents ask me, "Do you know if Hero Factory or whatever it is called will comeback?" I grin, and I looked at him and said, "I don't think it will. But you guys should check out Bionicle. It is a great line." I take the sets I need, and leave to pay. I looked back again, and the kid was holding a Tahu set. That's when I knew he just entered the nostalgia. And that was on a random day, lol.

My favorite sets wave is the 2015 wave. The designs are very good, the story is acceptable but the pieces are the best. Also, I'm 13 and I grew up with the 2015 wave, and being a kid of seven years who receive for gift these incredibles sets, it's a very joy to have it. So sai that I had only Tahu, Kopaka, and the one bigger with two characters and Creation Mask (I don't remember so much, sorry if I'm wrong)

2004 Toa Metru sets were my favorite, I love the design, the non flatness(like 2005 onwards) the last of the gear function, great posability, the darker colors, new yet familiar mask designs, feet, joints, tools...Just everything about them was my favorite. Not to mention 2004's Story was easily my favorite.

The wave of Piraka/Inika should easily be number one. They were the most popular toy Lego had created at the time, and they had the partnership with the All-American Rejects. They were just so iconic. And the Piraka were just all around beasts. I think the Mahri and Barakki come in a close second place for similar reasons (minus the All-Anerican Rejects of course). Their commercials stuck with people, and being underwater was such a cool new flavor to the story.

The Makuta definitely redeemed the canister sets of '08's Winter Wave. The Toa, despite having more of a resemblance to their set legacy, ultimately failed from a visual perspective because someone thought making them all primarily grey while demoting their actually unique colors to secondary status was a good idea. It's okay though, because the year's Titans were fantastic.

I still can't get over the Inika masks. They're just too organic to me. Also, the 2015 winter wave definitely was great. I love CCBS, the functions were good (and the arms didn't flail around when you moved the figure), they had great parts, and generally looked better than anything in 2016 (besides maybe Tahu Uniter, Umarak the Hunter, Onua united with Terak, and Uxar). I don't know if it deserves the number one spot on this list, but it definitely belongs here.

If you base the quality of a wave on its canister sets, '07's winter wave is by far my favorite. The Barraki were such well-realized sets all the way from their looks to their unique builds. If we're talking about Titans, then '08's Summer wave takes the win. It took the vehicle sets to heights unseen with scale and complexity that positively trashed any other vehicle sets made before them. We also got the incredibly solid and revolutionary new Takanuva set that reinvented the build of humanoid titans all the way until G1's cancelation.

I say I'ld have to agree with #1 greatly. the 2015 wave featured gearboxes from 01-05, full possibility from 06-09 (and debatably 04), the mask pop off battle function from 01-03, launchers from 04-09, the vivid colors of 01-03 and 09, the double tool function from 02, 04, and arguably 09, and it really holds up to the "collect the mask" vibe that the entirety of gen 1 had in some aspect, and with most sets having back armor, helps to "complete" the CCBS system. I'm also glad to see the Barraki so high on this list. They were the first BIONICLE sets I saw and (along with Dekar) I built. :)

G2 CCBS is heavily under appreciated. Incredible builds, unique functionality, and gorgeous pieces. What you can do with constraction is unique all to itself. No other toy on earth can do the DIY action figure like CCBS.

Yeah, the socket joints they used from 2008 to 2010 were notoriously fragile. In fact, I'd go so far as to say they were a major reason for bionicle's cancellation, along with a lack of innovation in set design, more expensive sets, and the poor economy of the time

I really see no problem with the CCBS being used for Bionicle, it looks nice and it's satisfying to hear that click when you put on armor or limbs, it's also a happy medium between early Bionicle's gear functions and the possibility of the Inika build. Early G1 Bionicle was made mostly using technic parts for the first few years and that worked fine. CCBS or Hero Factory is to this wave what Throwbots were to the original Bionicle. Just my opinion. I agree mostly with this list, but I would probably have put summer 2007 as my number 2 or 1, but winter 2015 for sure deserves to be on this list.

Build wise, I'd say I agree with the 2015 sets. They encompassed the gimmick while keeping pose-ability at a max, which is insane. Aesthetic wise though, I'd have to give it to the Barraki.

I really do think that the 2015 winter wave are overhated. I challenge you all, tell me why the new sets are an abomination without using the words "Hero Factory." There's so much unused potential with CCBS that Hero Factory never used that BIONICLE is now experimenting with. I think that the change from the Inika build to the HF build is pretty much the same as the change from the Metru to Inika build. It's just change. While I did enjoy the Inika build, I did like the functionality of previous years as well. Now, these new sets have both. It's really the perfect combination.

Because the 2015 reboot ignores pretty much every bit of lore that had already been established. note that I did not say all lore. the bionicle reboot can be likened to the Ben 10 reboot. Personally, if they had retold the old story and used CCBS for the sets then I, as a fan of the series from before mask of light but after the borok segment continuing to the end of the story before the reboot, would have done more to get newer generations interested. instead, aside from the bright colors and names, I barely recognized the toa. And the masks, new tahu's was alright, But I have seen better designs from 3 year olds for masks for the others. I guess new Pohatu's was alright too. All in all, unless lego tries to reboot from the beginning of the first generation's story using new builds that pay homage to the originals, then they most likely killed one of their best sellers.

The designs just look, how do I put it? More plastic like than they should? It's like they took an old piece and smoothed it out. I understand that they are more standardized and easier to produce but I can honestly say I have not liked a single G2 part other than a couple masks and weapons. I prefer the look of sets from the toa Nuva through even the stars line. The new sets hardly look like bionicle, they look more like some new cheap toy, especially with some of the weird color combos. I actually didn't hate the first couple waves of hero factory so I have no bias on that front, I just can't stand the new designs.

Another reason for 2007's winter wave for being where it is, and I know that this list is purely off of the sets, but Cryoshell came out of 2007. Creeping in My Soul is one of the most beautiful and disturbing songs there is. Combine that with the visuals of the Barraki promos and it makes for quite the experience.

The Summer 06 Bionicle Sets are my favs. The Toas looked quite cool, The Titan Warriors where some of the best ones & The LEGO System Sets weren't too shaby either...

I feel like the winter of 2004 should have been the number one spot. It had the most solid toa sets with a cheap price, it had an engaging story, and pretty neat titan sets (excluding Krekka)

I definitely agree with you on the reasons for #1, and I think that the sets are brilliantly designed. I'm having a bit of trouble getting used to them because they're very different from what I'm used to. My favorite year for sets is 2007, and I can't really decide which wave is better.

A big reason for the hate around CBS was I think it came around with the end of Bionicle and rather than get functions and gears and moving parts like we did with the Mata, Hero Factory's opening wave was just pose-able figures. It wasn't until later that we get the gear functions and the more technical aspects Bionicle had originally brought to the table.

I didn't buy any 2015/2016 sets because of the CCBS build, and that is probably what killed it for a lot of people. It was just Hero Factory renamed to Bionicle for money.

Glatorian Bionicle was my favorite, for nostalgia reasons. It was about when I first got in to Bionicle. My proof: Gresh's mask broke only 3 years ago, when my little brother was playing with him in our yard.

I think the 2001 to 2002 line should be a no. 1 because of the build, funtionality and overall look of the models. also the storylines were great as well.

My favorite bionicle set wave was all the line of 2007, With the toa mahri, because the toa and the enemies of the waves before 2007 I think they're all looks like the same model who only changes the color and the weapons. But each toa marhi look really different to the other toa marhi (also Hewkii is my favorite) and each barraki look realy different to the other barraki. All of them have different weapons, diferent body structures, diferent proportions and also the have the cordak blasters (my favorite shooter weapons of bionicle) and the squid launcher. And the history of the run for the mask of live underwater was something realy awesome.

BIONICLE Stars were disappointing but they did give us an actual final wave instead of cancelling it in 2009. So I have to appreciate it for giving us an ending to BIONICLE G1. I wished they released more than 6 figures in 2010. They should've made a lot more vehicle sets and added a Titan set of some sort and maybe given us more recognizable Toa Nuva forms than Mistika. But I think the Entire Year Of 2008, was the best wave in BIONICLE because of the cool Axalara T9, Mazeka and its cool Toa Phantoka and Mistika Sets. It also included Makuta Icarax and other Makuta for the first time! And we got the super cool air battle and connect together and take off gimmick which was awesome and add on some battle craft and Toa Ignika and you're good to go!

What is kind of sad though is that some of the old Bionicle fans hate CCBS because of how simple it is or they don't like it because it isn't the same Bionicle pieces we have used. But we have the same gears.. And it's not like Hero Factory is coming back. And Lego can always change CCBS to some new building system for Bionicle. I doubt it though. CCBS is actually a good system for Bionicle. I like it.

Actually scratch that. The gear box is different, I meant the gears that move the arms. I also meant that the gear system in 2015 I think is better then the other gear systems we got.

I'll have to wait a bit before I compare 2015 to the other waves. It reminds me of when I first got Toa Metru for my birthday - they're so different to anything else we've seen so far. They do have excellent function and form though. I don't know how anyone could design a re-release for Bionicle better than this! :')

This is a good video. I do have some problems however. I strongly feel that the 2001 wave should've been higher. I mean, you mentioned a big thing about nostalgia for 2015, but what about the wave that started it all? I'm not going to complain about the number one spot, just because I person feel that the CCBS was a little overdid. My last issue is the lack of honorable mentions... I know, I said it, I'm sorry. But TTV has done it before, and even though there weren't a ton of other waves, the Toa Mahri or Piraka do deserve at least a nod. Overall one of TTV's more spot on top10s. 👏
