Rewatching the series and got to this episode and my old question from when I first watched came back to me. Was I the only one who thought the United Clergy of Orun is being manipulated by a God Eater and not Lys being the God Eater? It always confused me how the PCs never thought this, especially after the Arcanaloth wanted to EAT Lys for godly power? They just accepted the villain's whole thing on Lys being the God Eater and never questioned it.

I don't think they ever said Lys was the god eater or really agreed with it. More they were in the moment and taking how the Orun Clergy were presenting it. Then after the fact they were so distracted by everything else going on that they never though to bring it up. I dont think they ever really genuinely thought that Lys was a God Eater.

It is essencially how it all ends. LYS basically consumes THE END to stop it. All the god fragments expressed that many of them were consumed by other gods, which was why they would hide in certain realms. LYS being a fragment that could be seen in the form of The Attic was a constant visual threat to The End.
