I'm always in awe of Angelina's versatility as an actress. When I stop and think that this is the same actress that played the sarcastic and punky hacker, Kate Libby in Hackers (1995), and then here, she can be so regal and sophisticated, that's range.

Callas' story is heartbreaking, the docu Maria by Callas shows it despite too much restraint on the reasons for her depression, addiction and death. Behind her extraordinary talent, well deserved success despite an exaggerated image of Diva/quick tempered/self-confidence she was depressed, had a lot of self-doubt, low self-worth, poor selfcare habits, unhealed emotional damage, addiction and other toxic patterns, even more once Onassis had entered her life. She should have NEVER sacrificed her last great years (voice wise) for a selfish/self-interested, overly greedy & abusive man like Onassis who didn't love her, treated her like a trophy, never tried to understand her & her profound love for Opera and performing bc he didn't care, he was the archetype of people who only care about themselves, money, attention/fame and power/influence. Onassis used Callas as much and for as long as he could until he found a bigger trophy to take advantage of and to value himself: Jackie. When he ran back to Callas she took him back bc she still had low self-worth and hadn't learnt the lesson, damaging her more, was poorly considered emotionally and infamously abused by him all along, her first husband also only cared about taking advantage of her, her career & money. Callas' biggest issue: she didn't learn from most of her mistakes so kept repeating them=toxic. She did have joyful, loving times thanks to her final tour with Guiseppe di Stefano (whom she famously had an affair with, short-lived bc she pushed him away eventually (out of self-sabotage), too bad for her bc he was sweet, sincerely cared for her, making her laugh too, she was smiling a lot in videos of their performances together even if she was displeased with her voice. I often wonder how long she'd have lived, what her late career would have been like if she had gotten treatment for her addiction (with some needed therapy) AND had given Di Stefano a real chance, once separated from his wife (a year later). I imagine a young generation of sopranos she could have trained and guided, how it'd have nurtured her Legacy, how much the World missed out on her incredible talent as an actress too, her mind blowing technique and knowledge bc she died at only 53 years old and after the final 15 years of her life were wasted away with so few performances. Callas was a typical case of being her worst enemy, ruled by toxic patterns she didn't try to heal, prideful, all fueled by aggravated addiction that contributed to her death way too soon. Until she passed away she'd tell the people trying to help her that she was in control of her pills intake, when clearly it wasn't the case (typical addict delusion).. Extraordinarily talented artists like Callas end up dying tragically and too soon if they don't take good care of themselves physically & mentally, and instead let their toxic patterns prevent themselves from finding happiness.

Holy crap, this movie looks like it's going to be good! I have been HUGE Callas fan for over 50 years!! I never thought for a minute thst Angelina Jolie would be good in this role, but I WAS WRONG!!! She's got Callas down to a TEE!! Her speaking voice, her vocal inflections, her gestures, her facial expressions, EVERYTHING!!! You do know that Angelina isn't doing the full singing, except perhaps the latter parts once the singer's voice is obviously ruined? Angelina is a talented actress, but opera soprano she is not. Though it appears she did 7mth of voice training so she could breath and "act" as if belting out arias.

It' s near impossible to play such a deep, complex and extraordinary character. Angelina Jolie is not and It takes just minutes for me to see it. Maria can' t find peace even in her death. Maria said that her maid was her mother, daughter and a true and only friend and family. I'm worried that Angelina might have played Maria as divaish person who usually just tilt their jaws up. Because after I heard her various interviews hundred times, I really think Callas and Maria was different person, and Maria was not a diva person. And all of her famous photos of hers and this video only shows her high-class fashion and these things. I hope they really show Maria's inner sorrows not just showing her scandals..and give her a real good homage like they did to Edith Piaf, because she is one of the greatest artists ever existed, and she really taught me the way to go through my life. Sorry for my english.

I think this film will be released as a work reflecting the maturity period of both actors and actresses. Haluk Bilginer, who plays Angela’s lover in the film, and Angelina are experiencing their maturity periods during their cinema careers. They will showcase their acting talents with this film. Indeed I thought the same…but the problem goes beyond this specific movie…I had the same issue with the Ferrari movie with Adam Driver as the main character. hoping for one day to have more culturally suited actors that also have a big name internationally. I am telling you all this is Oscar worthy, my grandmother is from a city called Atalanti and the mother of Callas is from a near by village, somehow they share some type of genetic vocal quality and a special tone which is not just greek, my whole family from my grandmother has it. Angelina NAILED IT! she is true to Callas 100%, it was like I was listening to my aunts because this is how Callas sounded to me, like my aunts. And they are all singers. My aunt, my mother, me... Im telling you, she isn't Angelina, she is Callas. This is wonderful, I got goosbumps.

I am so afraid to listen to anybody else try to imitate the voice of Maria Callas! I’m sure Jolie is a great actress, I just won’t be able to bear to listen to someone else try in anyway to immulate Callas’s singing voice. It is impossible, so I am worried about watching this movie. I don’t know why they can’t dub in the voice of greatest soprano who has ever lived!!!
