In this case, the word "sir" is a very good choice, because that's what you refer to your superiors in the Industry, not to forget that he still was a student at the time of the interview. It's not considered servitude mentality when you're a student and you refer to a teacher/guider/someone who's already well versed and experienced in a profession, as 'sir'.

Mistake- interviewer asks -akshat jain? He says yes Then interviewer says "akshat give a brief description about yourself" He says "sir my name is akshat jain" Interviewer already asked him that, and also called him by his name, repeating the same thing shows that he had crammed the introduction and could be a negative point in the eyes of the interviewer.
