That intro was a small step in time but a giant leap for most KZbin videos.....ok I stretched that a bit....haha. Seriously though, excellent video! My son is an avid space fanatic. He knows more about space and spacecraft than I know about Earth based aircraft! And I fly for a living....ok another stretch but he knows a lot. He loves the new Fortis Mars watch. He asked me to point out that the reason there is probably no 24 hour dial/hand is that that is an Earth concept. Space explorers that go to Mars will most likely utilize the 60 minute hour and Earth based time , but it will be totally off kilter each day due to Mars’ orbital patterns. I don’t know if this is accurate or not but I couldn’t figure a valid reason why he might be wrong. Either way. Food for thought. Totally agree with your opinion regarding the Speedy. Thanks ever so much for such a great video. Be well, my friend! Onwards and upwards!! To the .......Mars?!

@@robindelabra3874 Wow! That is a cool watch. I was thinking duel time with Earth vs Mars would be cool and lo and behold there it is with GMT too.
@Ashfielder3 жыл бұрын
@@robindelabra3874 all the good ideas are taken, right? That’s a very cool watch, I just wish it had half an extra hour marking rather than just a slowed movement. What I mean is, make it keep time in Earth hours, but just have an extra half an hour (roughly) on the dial. Hopefully someone will do that with the Mars time as the primary dial. I suppose the minute hand would have to flick back to twelve o’ clock once the extra 37 minutes had been completed, which could be tricky.
@JinKee3 жыл бұрын
@@Ashfielder i would pay an unholy amount of money for a Glycine Martian which has an Airman style dial except there is a separate 24hr and 00 hr index with a 37 minute gap in between them that was highlighted with three lume pips. and then have an extra GMT hour hand that runs on earth time and jumps the 37 minute gap, the GMT hour hand is the one that drives the date wheel so you know what day it is back at mission control imagine how collectable the actual space flown ones would be

That is such a fun dial! With applied logos & numerals and a variety of textures in different sections of the dial, you won't get bored with it! I also love the glide lock feature of the bracelet. In my opinion, every bracelet at this point should have a similar feature, but many luxury watches don't make bracelets with such features. It looks like Fortis certainly cares about the quality & user experience.

Hi, we just want to quickly answer a few of your question: *Why isn't it with Mars-Time?* Well...We cross that bridge when we get there;-) This one is made for an analog mission on earth so no need of Martian time. We are developing the watch together with the Austrian Space Forum - step by step. So next time we will implement other features or materials based on the the results of the analog missions. And then...one day...when Elon asks the question of which watch should we take for our trip...we will be there...tried and tested. *Why the Hook Strap?* It is designed by Nick Mankey who is based in California. We decided for these Hook Straps because they are elastic and that was one requirement for the astronauts on the field mission. They can now easily pull the over their space gloves. The well known velcro straps are actually quite tricky to handle with gloves that size. A slightly smaller reedition of the Hook Strap is included in every box for earthlings. Go check out Nick Mankey's website for even more designs or details: nickmankeydesigns.com/ *Why automatic watches in space?* Imagine you're going to space for a long...a very long time... One day you run out of batteries and your watch will simply not be working anymore. Therefore we believe that automatic wrist watches are by far the better choice. Now due to the oscillating weight, and most of the time zero gravity, the watch will be working all the time. Imagine the rotor starts turning by your movement: Due to the zero gravity it won't stop turning. *Why Tool Watch. Redefined.?* We at Fortis believe in functionalities. We also believe in good and timeless design. We build Tool Watches. But we also want to add love and details and combine it with perfection and outstanding quality. But there is one more thing that is utmost important to us: Emotions. We do not create watches. We want you to look at your timepiece every day, no matter the planet you're on and our goal is that you love it like TGV loves his 38mm Official Cosmonauts. So we are creating Tool Watches. Redefined. *Why is the 13 different?* For us the "13" is our lucky number. That's why we shoot all our photos with FRI 13. Since the Flieger Release, the 13 on the date wheel is always in a matching color. It should remind you at least once a month, that you bought something that's not just off the shelf. On the AMADEE-20 we also renamed FRI to SOL (a Martian day). But that's because we just simply liked the idea. We hope that the above kind of resolves some of your questions. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate and send us an email to info@fortis-swiss.com Best regards, Team Fortis
