Ginseng ficus tree repotting || Grafted bonsai tree soil change and repotting

A friend had gifted me with a beautiful Ginseng ficus tree on my birthday this year. Even though these are grafted trees and not a real bonsai they simply look great and I always wanted to have one in my balcony garden.
The plant came with poor soil mix and hard water stains on the leaves which looked ugly. So I decided to give the plant a makeover with a pot and soil replacement which I have covered in this video. I also attempted to clean the leaves with a solution of white vinegar and distilled water (a few drops of vinegar in a cup of water). Since the stains are too hard I will have to repeat the process several times to get rid of them completely.
Finally I think the tree looks much better in its new home. The new soil mix will also facilitate good plant health and growth.

My ficus had hard water stains on its leaves too but for the longest time I couldn't figure out what it was. Thanks for the info. Wish the soil didn't have so many parts though I need something a little simpler since I am just getting started with my tree.

If your water is hard don’t mist on leaves. Just water the soil. Misting and cleaning of leaves can be done with collected rain water or RO water.

After repotting, my plant shed all its leaves. Will it survive? Please give me a reply.
@TheUrbanNemophilist
@TheUrbanNemophilist 10 сағат бұрын
Ficus leaf shedding after a repot is normal. It should survive as long as are requirements of the plant is met.

I repotted my Trees completely wrong. Can i still do it over again ? Or should i let them do their thing. Also, i sprayed te leaves with some bonsai feeding liquid and now the leaves have sticky dots in them. Is it okay to remove them the same way of should i let the tree do its own natural thing ?

Hello, just came across your video because I reported my tree as well since it had pretty much the same soil mix as you show in your video. I bought a bigger pot and dark dirt but I didn't clean the old soil mix so thouroughly, do you think this is going to be a problem? Should I take it out and clean it and then put it back in a new pot? Also, my idea was to give the root more space so the plant can grow, is that going to do the trick or is there another way to make it bigger? Thanks in advance!

What about the copper corrosion?
@TheUrbanNemophilist
@TheUrbanNemophilist 4 жыл бұрын
We use copper since it doesn't rust. It also corrodes quite less. Its actually good because CU form part of the micronutrients that plants need. I will replace the wire with a new one when I repot it after a year.
