Don't worry about filming your animals, at all. This law in question is entirely about not using your property as a zoo like destination for people to walk around and look at the animals. As a permit holder for wild-life rehab, you are recognized by the government as a human agent for said rehabilitation because you have the experience and education to get to the ultimate goal of releasing the animals back into the wild. Allowing people onto the property who are not working towards this goal would probably run counter to the goal by normalizing human presence and/or distract the permit holder from focusing on the job.

*Hey Uncle Ben!* 3:47 *Those are apple snail eggs, they are extremely invasive in Texas, despite the contrary they do not tend to carry diseases that could harm you but i would squish them with something other than your hand/foot (if you use your foot just clean it with soap and hot water) just incase so that if they're carrying disease they don’t spread to your animals (due to how exotic they are it will most likely be more dangerous). So please don't ignore them becausethey will harm the wildlife! Also stay safe xx* 😂❤

I dont know if they are now, but they were really bad in Louisiana too. once they appear they spread quickly, but where I lived in the suburbs no one killed them because no one would chill out in their front yards unless it was to cut grass or make their way to their car.

Interestingly enough, Florida's native apple snails in the Everglades are in danger because habitat destruction. Their dip in population lead to the snail kite population getting hit hard. Although invasive apple snails have usurped the native Florida apple snail, at least they helped stabilize the kite population.

Ah yes, this video highlights so well how utterly stupid and harmful some of our laws are. Everyone gets told its illegal and bad to help wild animals. Yet when you do, and it requires actual funding to help them, government goes NOPE to money, so the injured ones get their version of the gas chamber. Instead of allowing them to heal and be taken in by people that could very well care for them... We rather boost populations of "exotic" animals imported from other countries than I own wildlife as we ruin ecosystems. Meanwhile practically every animal that goes into human care gets a much longer lifespan, flourishes in population, and overall just needs extra education to understand like any pet. Such a great liberal made law from 1914 that we must follow...

Just get a net and put them in a tank with some of the water from the pool, they should be fine as long as the water stays nice and green with algae. You can also get some water plants like duckweed and watercress like I did to provide them shelter and a place to climb onto once they start growing their legs. I never read anything on tadpoles so you should do your own research to make sure this is all fine but it worked out for my little pacific tree frogs from a couple years ago. :)

I got to be honest, this channel just randomly popped up into my recommended a couple of months ago and I've watched a video here there and my initial thought was WHO IS THIS HUMAN-SIZED PACKAGE OF ABSOLUTE CHAOS?! And I decided that it wasn't for me. But the videos keep popping up in my feed and like, how can anyone resist Big Ounce? So now that I've watched quite a few videos I can say that I'm an absolute convert and a hardcore fan. Uncle Ben, you are an incomprehensibly special person and I'm proud to be a subscriber. Your clickbait titles are a genre of comedy all unto themselves. 😂 Keep taking good care of all of those precious babies ❤❤❤

Hi uncle ben, i finished my apprenticeship in a german university veterinary clinic for birds reptiles and small mammals. I have the upmost respect for you because i know how much work a job like this is. And i know how sad it can be when 50% of your patients wont make it. For the people that wonder why this is: Most Bird bones dont heal very good because they are made very brittle to be light weighed. Thats why severe fructures end in eutanization 95% of the time. If raptors cant go back into the wild there is no purpuse of trying further heqling processes. Also birds dont have much blood which makes it really difficult to operate small birds or get samples from them. And they they shit all over the place. I really love that you put the effort to help these poor guys. Keep on the good work. And thanks Big Ounce for teaching all the doctors how to fix things

Did wildlife rehab for 13 months here in California, now that I've gotten my Zoology degree I hope I can keep pursuing wildlife rehabilitation professionally. If I ever end up in Texas I might pay a visit; really admire the work you put in given the scale of the facility & the multiplicitous need of the various animals. NOTE: 6:18 "viewing, exhibit, or display to the public" means in-person interaction with the animals by the broader community, not footage or media of the animals. Bringing the public into the facility is a no-no, but sharing footage of the animals is fine.

I also wanted to be a vet when I was young because of how connected I feel to animals. When I got older I realized that I love animals too much to be a vet. I ultimately know that dealing with that much death would crush my mental fortitude. I have incredible respect to Vets that can handle the work, and it's painful to know how much they have to harden their hearts some times.

I believe those pink eggs you saw early in the video all around the pond are actually giant apple snail (Pomacea maculata) eggs. They are an invasive species from South America and are super hard to control. They are popular in the aquarium trade and were introduced through improper aquarium dumping. We have been seeing them in Louisiana for quite a while now and it looks like they are here to stay. As far as i know, the only thing that eats them are limpkins which are also a non native species that we are starting to see on the west side of the state in the sabine wma and lacassine wma. Thanks again for all the educational videos Ben!
