As a Swiss and avid cyclist, the things you see in this video are sometimes just 'a day off' for us. We should never forget how blessed we are living (and cycling) here.

Hey Oliver I’ll be in Intelraken next week . What kind of bike should I rent? Any recommendations
@olivergroning6421
@olivergroning6421 Жыл бұрын
@@Syndicate6363 That depends of course on the routes you want to cycle and your fitness. For the tours around the lake of Thun and the lake of Brienz (very nice with the spectacular Giessbach falls) or to Lauterbrunnen and up the Lauterbrunnen Valley an all terrain bike is perfectly o.k. If you like to climb (e.g. to Saxeten, Grindelwald) then a mountain bike (or E-mountain bike) is o.k. Google “flyingwheels” for good rentals and on “komoot” you will find great tours around Interlaken. Enjoy and hopefully weather will be great.

@@PhenomTheOne Hi, the Valais is not exactly my home turf, but I am pretty sure that it is the tunnel at the ‘Lac de Mauvoisin’. It is a great mountain biking region south and above the city of Martigny.

Definitely good options on your bucket list ! How did you choose ? Lovely words from your wife. Here's a list of the locations I recognized : Châtel - Morgins - Col des Portes du Soleil - Champéry Martigny - Col des Planches - Col de la Croix de Coeur (the "hut") - Verbier Tunnel & waterfall : Lac de Mauvoisin Tour de France at Megève

Video sound is always so on point - I know, random observation, but it makes such a difference! Every time you emphasize the importance of your family, it makes me realize that much more how much I treasure my time with my kids and wife. I need to take that time alone that you’ve given yourself - my wife tells me to do so but I don’t as I feel like it’s taking too much time for me. But you are helping me to understand just how important it might be to have an epic trip like this to then give me that much more reason to treasure my time with them. SO glad I found your videos. Thank you!

And btw - we call this self responsibility in Switzerland. We are a country of 4 official languages and different cultures. There is nowhere in Europe more foreigners living - nevertheless, most perceive us as not so open minded - this principle works since some hundred years very successfully: live and let live everyone - as long as they make their share of what needs to be done. Actually the US constitution is to a major part based on the principles of Swiss democracy (sorry, just a short round in history 😅). Again - love your mission and work. Keep on going strong 💪🏽

So about a month after you were in Portes du Soleil, I went with my family. My brother and a few friends have visited many times over the past 20 years or so. Summer and winter. You describe how it feels to be there so well. After Covid and some other issues my bro and I managed to scrape together some cash to take the sting out of it and we got a chalet for 22 of us..all family parents grandparents cousins aunts. Some more came and camped and some random hippies joined too. My bro and I wanted to share the place with those we love. It’s special there. Imagine riding down these mountains on an MTB with your 10 year old son, or horses with your daughter and niece. What I’m saying is go again take your family

That tunnel is amazing, like Tyler said, there's not much to stop you jumping into the water flow and falling 100s of metres to the lake below. We rode through it as part of a 3 day ride around the Grand Combin. We can from the Fenêtre du Durand at the border between Italy and Switzerland. The whole trip was gobsmackingly beautiful.

Would disagree with your statement about being zero regulations in Europe. We have many, they are just different. USA wouldn't let you ride through that tunnel for fear of someone sueing that state/region whatever where as europe that's your own risk (to an extent) and nobody is liable. USA is more built for cars.

Nailed it with the calorie tracking. It taught me two things 1). Hidden calories (eg the oil you cook in) and 2). Portion control. I always calorie count now when i am trying to trim down for a mountain trip. Oh yeah and Pyrenees / Alps - yep mindblowing! I especially like the Pyrenees it altered my world bike riding perspective when i went for sure. I am lucky less than 2hrs on a plane away for me.

Dude, I know you're not lying about the family feelings. I have 4 kids now, 8 yo to 1 yo. In January 2022 my wife and I got to go on a 10 day trip to Hawai'i, our first trip with no kids. We're runners, so did a 6 hour race at a winery, explored various trail systems, see the volcanoes multiple times, and, I hiked Mauna Kea. We got to check out a ton of vegan places, go whale watching, really do anything we wanted with no care about what time it might be or what was to come next. The freedom was so foreign to us. Still, as time marched on, we started wanting nothing more than to have our kids with us to share the experience. I didn't feel the need to go home, just to transport my kids to me. We take a lot of trips with the kids and they're often not the most relaxing vacations because you're always on and need to care for the family...but I also wouldn't have it any other way.

I try to figure out where was the tunnel "de la muerte" you had to ride under a dam... Maybe it was at the Lac de Mauvoisin. Or under the Vieux Emosson dam... I live in Strasbourg, not the same area, but I know quite well the massif which is just in front the place you were, on the other side of the Rhône, and that we see very well on your shootings. I sometimes go hiking at altitude there, or running on trails. But I ride a bike now, and you gave me some ideas ; your video is inspiring. Thanks. By the way, I once had a journey with my fam that took me through Visalia, Three Rivers, Grant Grove Village... So I can easily imagine your own environment. And it is wonderful. By the way #2 : yesterday I rode with Phillip Gaimon… on my home-trainer (a workout that he's created for the system I use). So, we have the same friends 😃

I couldn’t resist converting this to Canadian. By your standard, I reckon about 19.25 metres equals 1 kilometer - so we’ll call it 1 to 20 to keep it simple. The Alpé is about 1000 meters which would equal 50 kilometres. Seems about right, effort-wise.

Dude, dinner looks fire. It's funny how different diets suit different people. I was overweight and had high cholesterol. Believe it or not, I went strict carnivore and ate nothing but meat. I had ribeyes for lunch, or like a pound of bacon. I lost 40 lbs in 6 weeks. I started adding in fruit and veggies and keeping my carbs healthy and I've kept it off for a year. And with the weight loss, came a drop in cholesterol.
