At 14:13 what is reason behind the direction of polarity of the 50V

Here's my reasoning. The orginal 5A current source was showing conventional current going "up" on the paper. Positive conventional current enters the negative terminal of a battery and exits out of the positive terminal of the battery. Think of a simple DC source with 1 resistor circuit. Notice how the current would travel in that circuit (clockwise or CCW) depending on your imagination, now notice how that current is interacting with the battery. Hope that helps and is correct.

this is an awesome series. you are a great teacher. but i have to mention that you made a little mistake calculating Va. I do not know which sign Va or 30 has but I am sure that -Va + 30 = 0 is equivalent to Va = +30 and at the end you say that Vab = Va + Vb but before you said that Vab = Va - Vb still a very nice video. easy to follow. keep on the good work
