Henry Winkler has every reason to be an arrogant difficult actor considering his success with such an iconic character. Instead he remained humble and thankful and personable. At 78 years young, may he never change and be an example to those moving up in the business. A truly wonderful human being.
@paulpeterson42169 ай бұрын
Don't get me wrong. He comes across as a genuinely good human being. OTOH, he could neve have been a "difficult" actor, because nobody would have put up with that. The man had the humility to recognize 1) that he got really lucky and 2) that as an actor, he has a lot to be humble about. If there were a viable way to rank actors that can make a living in Hollywood, whether TV or Movies, he would be in the bottom half. More or less everything that he's done since Happy Days has been mining the fame and good will he got from that show. Again, he's a wonderful human being. He's nothing special as an actor. He's just good enough that, ex Happy Days, he could probably have made a living as that character actor you recognize, but whose name you never knew.

Henry Winkler once said of his Fonz audition, he was there the same day Michael Nesmith and Micky Dolenz of the Monkees were auditioning for the same role and Henry nearly convinced himself he wouldn't get the role. Eventually became friends with Mike and Micky later.
@SquiggyGirlForever7 ай бұрын
Mike Nesmith never auditioned for Fonzie to my knowledge Micky Dolenz did, but I have never read that Mike did.

If he got the part 50 years ago on his birthday in 1973, & he just turned 78 today, (October 30th) that means Henry Winkler started playing a “high school” greaser, when he was 28 years old?

Just asking, did he ever do anything else besides Fonz,?
@WhenImBackInChicago10 ай бұрын
He won 3 Emmys, 2 Golden Globe Awards, and 2 Critics Choice Awards. First, was cast in a small role in The Mary Tyler Moore Show, then he burst into stardom playing the role of Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli on the ABC sitcom Happy Days (1974-1984). He developed the original ABC series MacGyver, and directed Memories of Me (1988), and Cop and a Half (1993). Winkler acted in films such as Heroes (1977), Night Shift (1982), Scream (1996), The Waterboy (1998), Holes (2003), The French Dispatch (2021), and Black Adam (2022). He also found a career resurgence in television portraying humorous characters such as Barry Zuckerkorn in Arrested Development (2003-2019), Eddie R. Lawson in Royal Pains (2010-2016), Dr. Saperstein in Parks and Recreation (2013-2015), and Gene Cousineau in Barry (2018-2023). The latter earned him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. He was a member of the main cast of the NBC reality series Better Late Than Never (2016-2018). In 2003, he drew upon his childhood struggles with dyslexia to co-write the Hank Zipzer series of children's books, which he then adapted into the BBC adaptation (in which Winkler appears as Mr. Rock) Hank Zipzer (2014-2016). He wrote three memoirs: Being Henry: The Fonz . . . and Beyond (2023) I've Never Met an Idiot on the River (2011) The Other Side of Henry Winkler: My Story (1976). ❤.
