Now I have a missing front tooth and the others are chipped from him repeatedly punching me in the face. it’s hard to get a job looking like this… people assume that you are a drug addict when you have missing teeth.

I am So happy that someone Finally said that responders to DV situations need to be retrained on how to handle these situations. That it is not always apparent who the "victim" is, and those who are being called for help need to be able to read the situation, sometimes between the lines. My husband's former wife used the current system to control him, to keep him from leaving her. She used their children as weapons, she used the police and department of human services to keep him from seeking help by playing the victim. He was finally able to leave her when his work therapist told him he was in an abusive relationship, and he works in construction so if his work doctor could see the situation it had to be a very bad homelife, and it was.
