In the score Ms. Tabakova/Mr Rysanov called it the "Max Effect" (after Maxim of course) but it has been a technique for a long time now, such as vibrating a middle/higher C [on G string] when playing an open C string in order to achieve "vibrato" for the open string.

how does he make that sound? he bows open c but where does he put his finger? i cant seem to achieve this effect on my instrument :(

Hey there! This video was posted a while back it looks like and KZbin added a mid roll add right around the 1:40 mark. You could move it to the very end or right before the thrid movement so it doesn't interrupt anything. Great Performance and Great Music!
