Because a large number of luxury brands make colors no deeper than deep tan. Overall the industry is getting better, but has a long way too go. I don't even get excited about new brands and launches anymore because their is a STRONG possibility they won't offer deeper shades.

@Vivian Lee I understand what you are saying. However at the end of the day, if companies don’t even attempt to make deeper shades, how can a consumer buy a product? Companies must make a product first in order to determine if it will sell. What has happened is that some companies don’t even want to try to include deeper tones, because it’s not their target audience, especially more “prestige” brands. In the end it will be their lost. Also I beg to differ, the world is changing, everyone is all mixed in races and becoming more so every day. Not sure where you got that 10% number from, but that’s not accurate. The world doesn’t look like it did 50 years ago. Minorities are the largest population and will continue to grow. Companies such as Fenty, have proven that If they make the products people will buy it.

I got the foundation a few months ago at Barneys mainly bc I was obsessed with the packaging. Didn’t have high hopes thinking it would be too light in coverage and hard to blend. Was blown away at how much I love it. It’s actually pretty buildable to full coverage (I have redness and acne scars to cover) and it’s SO natural and flattering looking. The drawback is the price for not even a full ounce but whatever, I will happily buy again. The bronzer is also stunning. STUNNING. It looks like a real tan and I have so many bronzers in my collection.

While it's undeniable Sara is full of energy and has a great personality. I feel we truly missed the opportunity to learn and hear from Gucci as Sara wouldn't stop interrupting and making many jokes that brought more entertainment value than educational value. Gucci has an amazing technique which I would have loved to see more of. It's unfortunate.

If you go onto Violet Grey's website and read the Violet Files, you can read the File on Gucci(The Violet Files are composed of different categories but they are in depth looks at a new product, a certain ingredient, beauty lessons(skin care/body care) or they give you in depth look at an artist like Gucci. Violet Grey also created a Pinterest board showcasing her body of work. Hope that helps. Also, when you go to each of the Westman Atelier products, you'll find a lot of in depth info on each with Editor's notes etc. If you are ever in the LA area, go into the boutique on Melrose Place it's such a lovely experience.

I follow the Violet Files regularly and I adore all of the edits and categories-it's wonderful to have them to enjoy and to refer back to when refreshing and updating your cosmetic wardrobe! I really enjoyed reading the file on Gucci Westman and was so excited to see the launch of the Westman Atelier line(and now brushes!) I so appreciate being able to I have seen some of these videos on the site but it's lovely to be able to catch up with all of them here on You Tube. That's exactly what you strive for with complexion -a fresh faced, youthful look. It's amazing to be able to have access to her line-products she created from her years of expertise; knowledge of how makeup works with the skin. This leads to the ease with which the products can be used to create a beautiful, flawless look-amazing!

I bought the foundation and the loaded highlighter based on Michele Wang video.... Beautiful packaging, no doubt... I am still testing the foundation application and this video is very helpful to have Gucci herself applying the product... I got the foundation in number I as it was same as Michele's shade however it proved to be too yellow... I have light skin with neutral undertones but if I get anything on yellow side it turns very yellow on me. Which other shade is also light but more neutral/pink so can I use either with Number I or by itself ...?

For me it was too yellow . Too yellow in the bullet and too yellow on my skin. I watched Penn's video where she swatched number 1 and Number 2 and number 2 is more neutral.... I also watched ANOTHER video lol by the sales person/makeup artist from San Francisco where Penn bought her items from and she responded to my question saying Number 2 would be more appropriate. I would suggest for you to watch Penn's video , she posted the link to the San Francisco artist's channel so you can ask her as well. It would be really helpful if we would have some description of the shades on Barney's website.... Here in the video she uses Number 3 and Number 4 and a bit of Number 2 under the eyes and the model is pretty light skin toned...? Good luck!
