I don’t have any details on the performance date or orchestra,conductor. I did see Hillary perform this in September 2023 in St Louis she was wonderful. I’m new to classical music I fell in love with Janine Jansen and Hillary Hahn. I listen to some every day. I’m 75 years old and have mobility issues. When I on a whim checked the St Louis symphony orchestra calendar I knew I would most likely never have another chance to see and listen to one of my favorite violinist in person. Something I can say was a bucket list type of thing. I wasn’t disappointed it was wonderful. I was able to bring my daughter and a grandson with me to help me get around and into my seat. A high point in my life really sooooo talented. It was a blessing for me. ❤😊

This performance is from October 2013. Hilary performed with the Camerata Salzburg, a chamber orchestra conducted at that time by Louis Langree. I believe you will be also able to find their performance, from this same concert, of Vaughn Williams' 'The Lark Ascending', which, if you haven't, is an absolute must watch/listen.

@@downeybill i think shes missing a bit of repetoire to be up there with these violinists. shes a incredible player with a very own and distinguishable sound, but shes rarely recorded chamber music. i think she should record more. i havent hear and piano trios, beethoven sonatas, brahms sonatas etc. and also very little showpiece recordings. all of the mentioned did a lot of this. i think its sad and cant undestand why she doesnt do it more often. there are some recordings of her and valentina lisitsa but nothing on cd / spotify which is sad :(

Love those rapid string crossings at the frog! Lots of bite there rather than playing them at the upper half of the bow. This is a full-throated rendition of Mozart's concerto that may not sit well with intellectuals, academics, or purists. But "old school" violinists like me love it. She sings that 2nd movement like an opera star!

I love the way Hilary looks around at the orchestra and gestures in sync to their playing before she starts to play. Certainly adds to the overall performance. Hilary might be more relaxed in this clip than the earlier one with the Pope in the audience, however the quality of the audio is not as good. Looking forward to a No. 3 recording Hilary you can buy, hint - hint !

Ms.Hahn seems almost to be socializing with the orchestra as she performs. She eschews the "This is about me" attitude of some divas and is friendly and respectful of the supporting musicians. A superb violinist and a delightful human being. Not to mention drop dead georgious.

I am not a "purist"( the ones looking for every half note being played by the rules). I go by what is pleasing to my ear and what appeals to me. Ms Hahn's presentations are always crisp and full of expression. Ms. Hahn has given me new experiences in music and never disappointed me.

I've just had the opportunity to watch Hilary Hahn's reading of this delightful concerto back to back with that of another much-vaunted young violinist... and there is no comparison. The other performer is good, if a trifle pedestrian, but almost from the first stroke of the bow, Hahn proves what a superb artiste she is. She effectively plays this as if Mozart has just written it for her. Crisp, clean, and a tonality of near perfection. Bravo!
