i think trash bow is fine. they aren't gold, they produce fast and basicly just as effective vs halbs as hand cannons. then when enough can switch to the hand cannons. probably paladin/trashbow into paladin/hand cannons was the play not paladins into elephants against someone who was already teched into halb monk.

I think he teched into almost every other tech besides trash bow. Including heavy camels. Even though trash bows are great against halbs and monks. But who can understand the mind of The Viper. 😉

trash bow allows you to keep those expensive elephants viable. trash bows are great beacuse theyre an excellent secondary unit and theyre basically free

I don’t understand how they left persians without any buff. - While everyone got infantry buff, Persians infantry is not usable (lack of two hand sword, and champion …) so will miss out - only option for persians is cavalry and they dont get step lancer and no winged hussar. their elephants is not realistic to use because they get converted (no heresy and also persian monks are really weak no block printing and they can not convert them back ) Plus elephants are super expensive and slower than some other civs and also they require castle and can not be trained in stables like other civs. So their unique unit is unplayable And they dont even get siege engineering to accompany elephants It is sad to see persian civ is un-play-able and honestly each time anyone chooses persian in tournaments they loose. How come nobody talks about this?

When it comes to elephants you need to build trash around it so they can deal with the counters your enemies will make, and they will focus on taking out your elephants because they're way too destructive to ignore them. Then if you think about what counters elephants: Monks, spears and camels you just need to think about what you can make to complement your elephants. If they go monks you go hussar and if they go spears you go champions and if they go camel you go spears. Ideally you go elephants with cav archers and some spears, then you counter everything besides heavy siege, but that is expensive and very heavy on the micro and all that comp does is win battles against people stupid enough to engage against it directly. The best tactic with war elephants is to use their terror to scare your enemies in to thinking you might use them, but instead of that you come in with an army of cav archers to shoot their counters like spears and monks. So if you want to use elephants you don't make them with the intention of fielding 40 war elephants. Instead you should use them as a front line to scare your enemies into believing you are going to field many war elephants while you are actually using them as a meat shield so you can harass you enemies. No sane general is going to take their eyes off those elephants while there is a chance they might attack which will make it more difficult to focus on the more important tasks. Compare it to how dogs are used to today to keep hooligans at bay, no one will want to enter a fight with guard dogs because the first one to get hit by them is 99% certain screwed, but the squads that employ such dogs aren't keen on releasing them either because such dogs are expensive as hell to train and usually the trainers have some sort of connection with the animals.... but the hooligans don't know that. We have gone past the hooligan stage since people already know how to deal with our metaphorical dogs, monks. So now we need to employ a tactic that uses their expectations against them, and counters are best countered by feints if there is no alternative since people tend to become overzealous if they think victory is within their grasp.

Or you can be The Viper and send your elephants straight into their helbs and monks end up teching into almost every other tech in the game and somehow still end up winning. 🤷‍♂
