That's a heck of a first listen for Rammstein. I'd been familiar with the original album version of this song since it was released in 2001, but this stripped back piano version was quite the revelation when I started seeing it on reaction channels. They've been around since at least 1995, and they've never changed their lineup. They're known for having the best live shows in the world, with tons of fire, and their music videos in recent years are of cinematic quality. Absolutely anything from their 2022 album Zeit is worth watching, and some reactors have covered the entire album already.

I personally think this version works best when contrasted to the original one, but after that. After all Rammstein is most widely known for their "full" sound.

I love watching people discover Rammstein for the first time!!! Till Lindemann is one of the best frontmen ever. His voice is so distinct and his delivery is both measured, and packed full of emotion. The band themselves are all obnoxiously talented and their live shows are legendary as are their music videos. They put an absurd amount of thought and time into both. True performers all of them. Definitely check out the full band version of Mein Hertz Brennt! Other videos to peep: Deutschland Zeit Ich tu dir weh (live) Engel (live) Du Hast (live) Cheers!

As being german, i have to say: Rammstein isn´t just a band, this is real art to me - especially the newer songs are so well visualized and mostly disturbing. They mastered the concept, to suck you in, into a mysterious story and force you to think about the deepest questions in life. Yes, it may is shocking sometimes, but they use to nail the core of a song totally, while keeping space for different interpretations. Also, they never judge anyone, an opinion or a fact...they try to let the viewers build their own point of view and let them unravel all those different layers of meanings. It´s true art to me and is more like reading a book, because they urge me to watch a video several times, in order to extract at least the most deep meanings and thoughts out of the lyrics and visualizations. As people recommended earlier, "Zeit" is a great song to watch next, for the total confusion, there is "Deutschland" (Germany), which is even hard to get for Germans, tbh - both of those songs are a bit "shocking" as well. Nice reaction video, have a nice day everyone and happy easter in advance^^

Rammstein can rock for sure, but this performance is something different. It carries an air of the Bauhaus movement, along with the decadence of the cabaret culture in pre-war Berlin. Til is, at the very least, a theatrical performer, and this song always gives me chills. Great reaction, Bethany!

I'm glad this video is your first exposure to Rammstein and the artistry of Til Lindemann. I only recently discovered Rammstein a month ago myself. Rammstein fans, don't judge me. My world consists mainly of classical, opera, jazz and blues, so I'm not familiar with any metal bands past the 80's. This video gave me goose bumps and had me in tears on first viewing, it is so stunning. Enjoy your Rammstein journey. My favorite songs so far are Sonne, Adieu, Engel, Ohne Dich and of course Mein Hertz Brennt. Any song that showcases Til's amazing voice.

I'm so with you on this one. I used to say I listen to all kind of music, except hard rock and metal. Then in 2019 I started to work as a teacher in German as a foreign language, and to help one of my students, who was a bit insecure, but liked Rammstein, I started to listen to them. One day my student asked me if I had listened to Deutschland. "It's so good" he said, and I listened and fell in love with the lyrics. 🖤❤️💛 Since then I listen to Rammstein every day, and I am a total fan. Even went to a live show last summer. It was amazing, and I am so thankful to my student who showed me the world of Rammstein. 🤩🔥🎶

I teach musical illustration to Digital Media majors and I always use this as an example of how in such an act of creation everything has to serve the Idea. There are no fillers here, nothing is extra, nothing is unnecessary and nothing is missing. From the tone of his voice, his articulation, the lyrics, the note choices, the piano part, the overall sound, the acting, the lighting, the set, the costume, the makeup, the cuts (which are real btw. Till wasn't happy with the makeup and asked for a blade... that's commitment I guess), the colors, all those are essential to one big narrative in a video where nothing happens, where the most remarkable thing is that creepy smile. Yet take away a single element, change one, or add anything to it and the whole thing is ruined!

I'm so excited that you finally checked Rammstein. 🖤 This song, or better to say this version, is very untypical Rammstein song, but I'm glad you liked it and it made you want more, because Rammstein is, in my opinion, the best band in the world. They have so many, too many great songs, but I would recommend "Zeit" (with subtitles, which you can find on "educatedmarine" channel... actually, on that channel as well as on "bucksttabu" you can find all their videos, live performances and other songs with lyrics/subtitles). Of course, you can choose any of their songs, but I think it would be wiser to start with slower, softer songs. They can be very, very heavy, but they can also be gentle when needed and I tend to make people first listen to one or two of their softer songs and then introduce heavier stuff. I am really looking forward to see more Rammstein on your channel. 🖤

The title of the song gives away the tone of the piece. My Heart Burns represents pure despair on the part of the character. In that context, the story he is telling and his facial paint and expressions make more sense. He has a job....to tell a story to put children to sleep. But he warns them that once asleep the nightmares will come, and this is the source of his despair. And with that in mind, the two times he gives that unsettling smile and how quickly that smile fades tell the real story. He wants to be comforting to the children, but he is devastated about what his story-telling brings in the form of nightmares. So the smile is half-hearted, and fades quickly into a look of utter sadness and despair. This is a brilliant piece of acting and story-telling, and Till's amazing voice and the haunting accompanying piano make it even more poignant.

Sometimes when he is performing live on the stage, he begins the song with growling and later he explodes in a quite clear tone in the chorus. Often his voice walks on thick carpet of full sounding guitars that are typical for Rammstein. The beast of a drummer and a strong bass support all ! And the funny keyboarder rounds it up with minimalistic tones. What a combination ! Love it ❤️❤️❤️

Yep, Rammstein is more of a movement than it is just music. Till has an amazing voice that just can't be emulated and the entire band has a stage experience that brings every person who sees it closer to their themes. I'm an American who's been living in Germany for nearly 12 years now. I am lucky enough to have been able to concisely understand one of the world's most difficult languages (German). I listened to Rammstein before I understood more than a word of German and now that I have a deep understanding, I can say Till's vocal tones accompany the deeper meanings of Rammstein's lyrics in every way. If you go through their entire catalog, you will see they have a broad reach of themes usually presented in a shocking "in your face" way. Understanding what he's saying has little to do with the depth and reach of what's being conveyed. Rammstein is one of those bands you really can't ignore and Till is a vocalist that is a force rather than just a singer.

I think of this song as a "gateway drug" -- it was mine, anyway, 20 years ago (first heard in a movie). Till is an absolute master of the vocal and visual spectacular -- welcome to our fandom!

You started with a very atypical Rammstein recording. Not necessarily a bad starting point though, and I enjoyed your analysis.

Lots of great songs from Rammstein. The full band song with the video is amazing too. But Du Hast (live in Paris), Engel (live in Madison Square garden) , Angst, Sonne, Zeit and many others are great too.

Zeit is another song with an amazing movie-like videoclip. Definetely check it. I don't remember ever seeing a videoclip with a quality similar to zeit. And also the visuals in their live performances are extraordinary, to say the least (Ich Tu Dir Weh Live from Madison Square Garden is a good example....). And it's not only the visuals. The contrast of his voice with the melody behind and the emotions in his voice are amazing. And even in their not so famous songs you can also find diamonds ('Amour" for example. A great song, full of emotion with a similar contrast of his deep voice and the melody behind).

Welcome to world of Rammstain! I hope you like fire. They have nothing like this video so be ready for something very different in your next destination. "Deutschland" is favorite of many reactionists, "Mutter", "Engel" or "Du hast" are all good destinations nest and not so populates as first is. That smile is good way to loose your sleep.

Wow, you choose a "difficult" song! Yes, have a look at the official MV as well. Due to the visuals it's a bit easier to understand. -- The song is about the nighttime fears and horror of kids growing up in a public children's home. It is autobiographic because it was the fate of two band members. At midnight the "voice out of the pillow" awakes and presses the tears out of the kids' eyelids. It collects them and finally injects them into its vein. At the same time black witches and other monsters arise from the cellar and creep under the kids' blankets. -- The - as you rightly said - "sophisticated" impression is due to fact that Till sings in so called "Bühnendeutsch" ("stage German", see Wikipedia). Hence the rolling "R" and the precise pronunciation of the consonants at the end of a word: in everyday German we say "is' ", but the "ideal" theatre form is "ist", the "T" being pronounced. -- The singer Till is also Rammstein's songwriter and (like his father) a professional poet. The lyrics of many songs are sung poems. Till often uses outdated words and parlance, in this song e.g. "liebe Kinder gebt fein acht" (outdated) = "liebe Kinder passt gut auf // hört gut zu" (modern, everyday German); "die Lider zu erpressen" ("erpressen" in this sense is unusual poetic parlance) = "die Lider auszudrücken". As a consequence many Rammstein lyrics are metaphorical and ambiguous and can be interpreted in several ways. A stark example is the lesser known, but very beautiful song "Nebel" (Fog). If you read "Nebel" from the end to the beginning you get "Leben" (Life) -- and this what the song is about: losing a beloved friend. -- I propose the live version of the also lesser known song "Rammlied" which is pretty funny and then the very touching song "Nebel".

As a fan of Rammstein since the late 90's I always love seeing people discover them for the first time! If you do decided to watch more I recommend researching the English lyrics at the same time as it adds so much to the experience if you understand the context of the lyrics. Till is fantastic at projecting but it means so much more when you have the interpretations as you are listening

I loved how you got into the song, I was a bit skeptical about how your reaction was going to because I thought, if you don't know Rammstein, what do you listen to? But as I watched your reaction I imagined that's how I got into this video the first time I watched it. I'm a massive Rammstein fan and even have their tattoo, which is the only tattoo I have, I've always loved their music but when I first listened to this version and watched the video (and probably everytime since) my mind was blown as I was not expecting this. The piano, his vocals, the video, lighting etc, a work of art that gives me goose pimples every time. A work of art... all I can say..
