This cover of her is simply exceptional, for the ability she had to reread without distorting it, such an iconic song and for the depth of her interpretation, at only 13 years old! This is totally an example of Angelina's work, she is a wonderful blend of innocence, naturalness, talent, sweetness, conscience and respect, plus a great voice that she has managed with no effort or tension since she was 6 years old. I really appreciate that you're concerned about a young singer's voice and that young singers should not try to strain their voice just to get a certain sound or note in order to please an audience. Yes, she is an artist, not only a singer and she always seems so relaxed when she sings. Everything from her jaw and face to her whole body is relaxed. She has always had great voice support, even at 7 and her body is grounded which is a beautiful thing. I also felt that your critique was natural, honest and interesting. She is brilliant. I am glad she was not hurting her vocal chords at that time. Her version of Adele's 'Easy On Me' at the age of 15, is absolutely incredible. At times she reminds me of Amy Winehouse, and Adele, too. But ultimately she is herself, a very gifted young artist.

he reason they still take it fairly slowly is that she is only 16 years old - This in agreement with Republic Record, the family, and Angelina herself. She is now working on her record. Angelina has already sung in many countries, and all important people in the music industry know who she is. They only need to press the button when the time is right for the next step. No point in "burning out" a 16 year old jewel of a singer! After all, she has collected over 800 million views on her videos, and has already achieved more than a 16-year-old could have dreamed of. I think many people forget how young she really is since she is so mature for her age!

Besides putting us mere mortals into a rapturous trance, Angelina is a singer's singer. She does things with her voice that few try, much less execute. Even voice teachers struggle to explain or define what she does. More than one has cried. And I don't mean loud impressive belts, which she is capable of but doesn't overdo, it is subtle, musical artistry that just captivates. She can woo you into her spell and tell you a story like no other artist, make you hear what a song is about for the first time. Another thought for you is that she choses and arranges all her songs. And you should watch and listen to her whole history of singing from 6 to 15 years of age, And you will be even more amazed with this fabulous genius singer. She can make any cover her own and takes us on an emotional journey every time. She is a modern day vocal Picasso, as she can sing any genre.

Just a couple of points, since the other comments have covered the gamut already (in less than and hour!). No. 1 is to go to Rusty Shackleford channel and see the lists he has for Angelina performances....the place to start choosing reactions. No.2 is the show you just saw....it was acts that have won on these shows around the world, so not singing at all exclusively. And since the judging was done by a "superfan" (chosen by the producers) from each state...the inevitable winners would be bread and circus acts....as you might expect.

There is a certain magic in all her live performances. Especially in large crowds or outside. She has a natural charisma that is probably related to how calm and un ruffled she is. As others have pointed out when she sings she goes to a special place. It is why she never dances around and often closes her eyes. I understand voice coaches discourage this. I promise you that for fans it is a treat because we know she is singing from her special place.

I totally agree. She's not an entertainer, she's an artist. (She arranged that version of Bohemian--maybe the most original cover of it ever. Even Queen liked it.) You should check out her performances of Gloomy Sunday and Summertime at 7-8 years old. Or her Feeling Good at 10. Look at her I'd Rather Go Blind just to get an idea of her fearless experimentation. Her original 7th Heaven is well worth listening to and lots of fun. She can do anything with her voice. Right now, signed to Republic, she's trying to create a voice--I kinda miss her cameleon covers. She's also great spirit, kind, generous.

Sadly, Angelina’s paternal grandfather died in March 2018 and her maternal grandfather died in November 2019. Angelina’s maternal grandmother Mery Zamani has had tremendous influence on Angelina and her career as she introduced Angelina to Jazz at early age. Yes, one of my two favorite talents. . . Please, please do the other phenomenal talent, Amira Willighagen. She won Holland's got talent at age 9. . She sings Ave Maria from that show, that's the one you want to see and hear. She's on the stage alone looking like an angel. Remember this is her at nine. Winning AGT wasn't important (she didn't); exposure in the US was (she got that). You seem to appreciate vocal artistry, so I recommend watching more of Angelina. IMHO, she is the premier vocal artist alive today (at 16, or any age). She has mastered a larger palette of vocal techniques than anyone else, and possesses the musical intelligence to use it beautifully. She's covered almost every genre (except opera), with jazz influences that are all but lost today. I look forward to your next reaction. For her career, however, it was more important to gain exposure in the U.S. She got that three times over with Bohemian Rhapsody, Yellow Brick Road, and Someone You Loved (as the only current-year contestant to perform after the finals). She probably couldn't win because her team would never agree to FremantleMedia's standard contract granting them a right of first refusal for a recording deal with the winner. I'm sure they took a deal for exposure instead (without the record deal clause), knowing that meant she couldn't win. It has been suggested that she chose YBR as her final song for this reason too, with lyrics like "You can't hold me forever; I didn't sign up with you / I'm not a present for your friends to open." If the vote were fair, Angelina likely would have won the show. She's clearly the best singer to ever grace the stage at America's Got Talent. After YBR, all of the judges except Simon said she deserved to win (Simon just said "I'll remember this performance for years and years to come"). As far as I know, FremantleMedia has never won a Grammy for any artist under contract, nor any song or album they've produced. This suggests that AJ's team was right to forego the record deal (and the win) for exposure and the freedom to pick Republic Records instead. At age 3 she started asking to get into talent shows and was told if she worked hard when she was ready they would put her in the shows. Here’s an example that prompted the decision that she was ready for the shows but the shows said said she was too young and made her wait till she was 7.
