I was at this concert, and have seen Farnsey 17 times. John is a huge part of who we are as Aussies, and interwoven into our souls. He is a part of my earliest memories, of my Nan (RIP) dancing with me up n down the hallway as a 3/4yr old to Sadie the cleaning lady, Everything is out of season, Raindrops. Now im the grandmother dancing in the kitchen with my own grandkids to Johns music. John Farnham has been there at our sides (through his music) during the good and the worst of the worst - using his musical talents,he has always been there for us Aussies through droughts, fires, floods, cyclones etc, and has been a huge part in shaping our political landscape, and laid back culture. John Farnham is the very best of us, and who we aspire to be more like. With John now 73, and after mouth/jaw cancer last year, he may never sing again, but that's ok as long as he's still here with us. Thanks for reacting to Farnsey, we love him to bits and are thrilled to see him being shared around the world - John is a treasure that should be heard by everyone ♥

@@donnam5891 Thank you hon. It was for me, an equal 1st with The Main Event - both nights I felt outside of myself, I was in total awe of what I was hearing and seeing at the same time. Both were truly magical, and I still can't watch the video's without breaking into goosebumps from the memories of those nights....I missed going to see "Jesus Christ Superstar" (stupid tonsils grrrrrrr), and I didn't sneak outta hospital, which is my life's biggest regret lol

@@westy4973 Cheers Westy.....It sure was m8. Having the night end with 'Long Way to the Top' followed by 'Help' was amazing and surreal at the same time. As I said above, it was like an outside of body experience - I knew I was there, but it didn't feel real at the same time, if you get that lol. Even out in the carpark, everyone was buzzing, singing both the last 2 songs. I will NEVER forget watching this old lady in front of me (she had to be in her early 80s)as we were all leaving, and she was 'singing' long way to the top at the top of her lungs. I never thought I'd see someone of that age singing Bon Scott, but there she was, and it was awesome lol

This was John's second encore of the night after a two and a half to three hour concert... He never misses a note and he thinks he's a comedian... his concerts were all as good as each other, regardless of the tour....his band has been with him for over 30yrs with only a few changes throughout the years and is a testament to John's character.... John has been in the industry since he was 18 and is now 73. He only stopped performing in the past year or so and is currently undergoing rehabilitation due to oral cancer surgery.... We lost a band to you guys in the late 70's. Are you familiar with Air Supply? They had success here with a couple of albums but Aussies were more interested in hard rock bands at the time so they had no audience. They toured the US and audiences loved them. So they decided to make a permanent move there. They are still working and are currently touring the country once again. For guys in their 70's I think they are amazing. We're all entitled to our own taste so if you dont like any of his sogns or the creative chocies he makes, that's absolutely fine, of course, but, like The Vocalyst, I've been a singing teacher for almost 2 decades, and you wont meet a professional musician, especially a singer, who doesn't recognise John's absolute top class technical ability. I can only think of a handful of pop vocalists of the last 100 years who'd I'd call more skilled across the range of well know vocal techniques. Especially when you look at how long his career was compared to other `power' singers who blew their voices out, or otherwise caused themselves lots of health problems during their careers.

That’s the best “reaction video” I’ve seen to John Farnham's version of “Help”. And I’ve seen hundreds of them. It’s very genuine, and you know what you are talking about. Please go down that “Rabbit Hole” with “Farnsey”. It’s so refreshing to see someone genuinely surprised and interested to see what he’s actually about as a vocalist. There are plenty of KZbinrs who chase Aussies for “clicks”. Most of them do the big “eyes wide open” and “wow”. Fakery is easy to spot. You seem to keep it “real”. Please do more. No doubt there will be recommendations in the comments about what to review next. Anything from the same concert wouldn’t disappoint. As long as you are genuine, react to it “first time viewing” and tell it how you see it. Warts and all. People respect that. And they will follow, like and subscribe.

John is an Aussie icon who has been in the music industry since the 1960’s! John gave up the opportunity to pursue an international music career to stay in Australia to be with his family, which is very rare in the music industry but has added to our love for him! ❤❤❤ John is now in his 70’s and recovering from surgery from mouth cancer. We may never hear our John sing live again, so these recordings are super special! And when you get to actually know the performer that is John Farnham, you realise how special these concerts are! He is there for the crowd, he is a true blue ocka Aussie with a wicked sense of humour, and endless array of dad jokes, and amazing interaction with the audience. His unwavering love for his wife Jill (she gets a mention at every concert) and his honest love for his band, the man is just incredibly humble. I have seen him multiple times and I still burst into tears at every concert. It is a shame that we will likely never hear him sing live again, so I am forever grateful for having these videos.

i think your comments about his love for his backing musicians is spot on. He really loves them so much. In particular his backing vocalists; Lindsay Field, Lisa Edwards and Queen Venetta Fields are collectively amazing. In particular Venetta. If you were to look her up her musical history, it will blow your mind. She will blow your mind who she has backed. Lindsay and Lisa are no slouches either. His drummer Angus Burchell has been with him from the beginning. The entire band are world class.

i'm Australian and have been a musician for 25+ years. when i watch reactions to music on YT i like to watch musicians react to incredible performances in their discipline. i have learned much this way, especially about singing. in the couple of years i have watched singing coaches react to songs i have wished they'd react to John. the Aussie ones don't need to and the non Aussie ones don't know who he is. i am very pleased this has changed. this particular performance, i watch for the reaction of 2 parts. this "help" 10:03 and this "help" 12:24 this lady stopped the video to point out how gorgeous those parts are. she's the real deal.

Can't believe you're only just discovering the brilliance that is John Farnham 😊 Welcome to one of the best voices you'll ever hear! He's now 73, and has been a fixture on the Australian entertainment scene since 1967. Sadly, he had major cancer surgery last year & we don't know if he'll perform again. If you want to hear him give an even better performance than Help, check him out in the Gethsemane scene from the 1992 Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Utterly spellbinding 💥💥💥

Thanks for breaking down this classic. You did a great job! John Farnham as you probably know now, is an Aussie national treasure. I was lucky enough to meet him at the height of his powers in 1989. I was 11 years old. He was by himself and there weren’t any people around. I asked him for a photo. He asked me my name and said “come here Danny!” and brought me in for a hug. His charisma even in that brief moment was captivating to be around. His ‘Whispering Jack’ and ‘Age of Reason’ albums are still on my high rotation.

I was six when I met John with my mum and dad outside one of the Sydney hotels he used to stay at. I've met all his band members too. I have a photo of the actual paper photo of the one pic my mum took of me meeting him on my FB page 😁 I had curly light blonde hair and he said he always wanted a daughter and I reminded him of his two sons that got his blonde locks. He smelt like whiskey, leather, smoke, a musky aftershave and soap when he gave me a big hug. He had just come down from his rooms after we followed his crew from the Entertainment Centre and he yelled at my mum that he would have a refresh then come back down to see us. His bouncers even knew my mum! 😁 He knew my mum by name as she and her friend were two of his less 'obsessive' and 'crazy pawing at him physically' fans but they would follow his whole Sydney tour itinerary even when he went on The Ray Martin Show. They spent a fortune even those days 😁

Yes, reaction video makers everywhere are just now discovering John Farnham and marvelling at his talent. We who share his citizenship have known how good he is for many many years. I'm the same age as John is and I grew up listening to and appreciating his voice and marvelling at his range and ability to sing in any genre. He is a national treasure and his music is nothing less than a series of anthems for the boomer generation. This concert was one highlight of his later career and it's worth noting, as others have commented, that this song is part of his encore after a two and a half hour concert. It's also worth noting that the audience sings the Farnham version of the song, not the original, so ingrained is his influence on us. Thank you for your instant recognition of his abilities. I am not surprised by that as you very clearly know whereof you speak.
