She is NOT overacting; she’s reacting to the loving memories of her mother’s Italian heritage and establishing an intimate cultural connection with her audience. Only people enthralled by superficiality would look at this magnificent performance and complain about it. Thanks for another insightful reaction.

I end up crying every single time I listen to Lara. I just can’t help it. People who think she’s “overreacting” should start paying attention to the lyrics and the context of them, so they would understand why her intensity is so justified and on point. She’s not singing about having fun at the dance floor, having money and being admired, or whatever includes “oh baby baby”, like many of the current top charters. Thank you for your beautiful, honest and educational reactions, looking forward to the next one!

Indeed, Lara Fabian is a masterful story teller. Mesmerizing, even. You don't even have to know the language (which I don't -- my Italian is nonexistent beside the occasional Latin-base-words that I might pick up on) to know the story, emotionally if not semantically. She is truly gifted in that way, and her expert use of her voice - tone, volume, pitch, resonance, EVERYTHING, is beyond exquisite. On top of that, she utilizes her whole body as part of the story. Her facial expressions are open, vulnerable, real. (BTW, it might be what some find to be 'too much', for not all are comfortable with expressions of vulnerability or high emotion, especially not from women). She is clearly in the moment and it crosses from one heart to another. One of the best story tellers I know. I 'found her' not long before I 'found' your response to her (how I came to see your channel, through KZbin's recommendations), and I am ever so glad I had. She's become one of my favorite vocal artists. Thank you for pointing out her story telling and her mastery - you do this so very well - and for the detailed examples and highlights. Really fantastic. As a story-teller myself, I can appreciate the depth that words, and their delivery, can have. Great choice of video to react to. XO from sunny NYC.

That comments "she is too much" etc. follow her from the begining of her career. Never undrestood it. Caruso is Italian classic😍 and Lara is THE lady of the song 👑 Her interpretation is master class material in singing and soul haunting. The part where she sings" ti volti e vedi la tua vita come la scia di un'elica" just before last chorus and last chorus always brings me to tears. ALWAYS. She is a puppet master: she holds the strings and does what she wants with you. Thanks Christi for amazing review. Next: "You are not from here" or "Broken wow" 🥰 and then back to italian Perdere L'amore😊 P.S Just for yourself please see her "En tout intimite" concert on YT. I went to Lara Fabian's concert in Helsinki, Finland, a few years ago, and it was a really strong experience even though I was sitting far from the front rows. I felt it deeply and I enjoyed thoroughly, as did the Russian lady sitting next to me - I think she had come from Russia just to listen to Lara. (Lara Fabian is very popular in Russia.) At one point I spontaneously said to her in English (about Lara): "She is unbelievably good!" She answered: "Yes she is", then smiled and closed her eyes, listening to Lara, visibly enjoying. There was this feeling of everybody enjoying it together - and the way Lara can communicate with all the people in a big concert hall is amazing! And her singing technique… how can anybody sound so good in a live performance… Lara is the best singer I have ever heard. By the way, have you seen the performance where the whole audience sings to Lara and with her? kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGiWg41srZqMrtk

Moments When she says America her face is filled with kind of smile remembering good memories which makes her gloomy at tjr moment. 3:42 and 3:50 when she speaks very beautiful instead of singing. And the end of the song is indescribable. I think every seconds is mentioned. wonderful. thank you Queen Lara and thank you Ms. Bovee

Noting the bits analytical detail, one realises even more the depth of Lara's involvement with the song. Watching her eyes is like looking into the very scenes she's portraying... Lovely video yet again! Also Dimash and Lara Fabian are supposed to have a duet sometime this Autumn... No idea how they will approach it but so excited to see it. They have some similarities but at the same time are such different singers with incredibly strong vocal personalities. But then again I've seen Dimash do many duets with a variety of singers and adapt wonderfully and I have no doubt that a singer as skilled and experienced as Lara will be immensely adept at a duet with someone like Dimash. I guess I'm more curious about the type of song too if they'll go for a love song or a more melancholic ballad or a big diva number. Ahh so curious! Any predictions?

Wondering if they may end up having something brand new for them seen as there's a fair amount of time until the show and a lot of the other performances may end up being already created works with a bit of reimagining. Would certainly be a fascinating contribution to music; Igor Krutoy writing a full duet specifically for both of their voices to work together on.

If I were a vocalist I would look for a instructor such as you! I can tell that you have a great understanding of the "sacred sciences" I have actually learned from your disclosers! The best to you and yours in this new year!

She is by far my favorite female singer in this genre and I'm so glad America is finally taking notice. I know each song and would love to hear you review her Adagio Italian version. Other options are Bambina, Il Existe un Endroit, her live version of Tango is outstanding, and Broken Vow. Basically any are amazing but these are the best! Thank you for loving her talent and for not constantly comparing her to Celine Dion. They each have talent and have some similarities. But I could tell you in a phrase who is who. Wonderful review!!!

I'm french and its clear that it is often the same songs that are analyzed on KZbin ( adagio, je suis malade, caruso ) because in the videos you can hear and see real performances but it would be useful to take the opportunity to discover his musical repertoire and her best known titles as first of all je t'aime, tout and immortelle, you're not from here, humana, perdere l'amor... Its also essential to be able to know the extent of the different styles to know her ! So if you can react to this kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5ayYXV9mLukgc0 and why not the others titles thanks a lot !

Stunning performance by Fabian. So emotional, raw, authentic and hauntingly beautiful. Truly one of the greatest all time live vocal performances in my opinion. Might be mistaken but I think David Foster’s finger prints are on this rendition: the phrasing and how Lara adds pause and length to main chorus (is this correct term?). Breathtaking! Excellent critique as well.

Christi thank you, thank you for the devotion to your craft and for being such a lover of fine music. I love listening to Laura ... but I love watching her more. These days singers are so dispassionate in there singing with the exception of very few. I want to tell you that I think you have to have lost a love to feel the full impact of this song, the first time I heard Lucio Dahla sing it I wept. Keep doing what you do with the same passion, many blessings on you my darling.

Defitively I really like your comments because they are so full of sensitivity in addition to your technical skills. I think your students are very lucky to have you Christi.
Thanks for this excellent reaction and commentary. I love the reaction part of these but also appreciate learning by going back over the performance with commentary. In these days of autotune and other technological aspects of "music", a really personal , truly musical performance like this is something of an oddity. I am finding more and more that people don't want profound or real. It's too raw. But for some of us, it is a breath of fresh air to find someone who is not afraid to show emotion. She does this in the most professional way I have ever seen..or heard. The "dynamics" are so important. As an artist myself, I love pen and ink because it is a combination of light and dark to make a picture. Lara's singing is similar to that...there is nothing shallow or fake about it. You get the loud and soft, strong and "weak", etc. etc. All of this creates a "picture" that is more interesting than many will understand but that the most talented and sensitive will appreciate themselves! I like how when you sing what she has done you really do it with the tone she used. So many try to "sing along" and it just shows up how they don't really get it...lol. They want to add vibrato to everything, like so many singers today. Lara's use of minimal vibrato makes her performances really unique. She is truly sublime!

Thanks for you analyse! 😍 You cover the most and i just want to say that music IS communication. You communicate different emotions with your voice or instrument. There is a lot of different emotions, like a whole tonescale, you can move people with. As a lot of music creates today, by the industry, it's more like a well produced package to get people hooked with simple chorus and the lyrics seems more and more aiming to be cool, violent and so on. And that's what a lot grow up with as their first contact with music. Fast food pop with auto tune. What Lara sings about might need a couple of emotional breakdowns to really connect emotionally to. Who knows? But I never connect as strong to any vocalist in my whole life. And it's not technique, it's the way she just invites you to her space and emotions. Maybe not for all but I never felt she is overdramatic. Best wishes from Sweden ❤

Some singers execute a song other singers like Lara Fabian presents it with their whole soul and body.It is the same with Dimash. It is like they get lost in the moment in the song and it is lovely to see. For me her performances are a total experience and I love it.

Opera aria or not she does this better than anyone could and I've heard it sung by many artists. She becomes the lyric. And pulls you into it. Also Adagio. You are a professional without a doubt, well versed in all aspects of the the techniques used when using your instrument. I took 3 yrs of voice when I was a young. And it was not easy but I'm happy I did it gave me such an appreciation for those who teach voice and those who use their vocal abilities to touch others, not just entertain. That is a special connection to have.
