With how often that I have seen Matoma cry now, I have started to wonder how he is able to function day to day? He seems like cries at the drop of a hat. (And then on the flip side of things, I find it very rare to see Yosef without a smiling grin from ear to ear!)

What you didnt see before and after..:: He started in a choir when he was 10 and he aimed for the stars…but he never reached there (its from his interview before he went on stage).He works at a small factory but his dream is to be able to make a living of his music. He loves musicals because singing them you are able to show emotions. Les Miserables is Ina’s (the female mentor) favorite musical..He got told that from one of the crew just before he went on stage and the reply he made was «Oh shit» then it suddenly became much more pressure cause then Ina knows the feeling of the whole musical. Matoma: Hi to you. Whats your name? Stian: Hi. My name is Stian Matoma: Stian, where are you from? Stian: I’m from Kristiansund Matoma: Kristiansund has something to be very proud of, because this was….(snuffles)..yes, this was… It couldnt have been any better. Ina, you have to take over (he couldnt talk, cause he was so moved) Everyone claps and laughs… Ina: When I was 4 years old my mum sat down with me and had me on her lap and played the whole Les Miserables album for me. She told me about all the characters and what happened, therefore the musical has been one of the big things to lean on in my life and in my musical life. When someone is doing Jean Valjean and tell his story from the barricades, I’m always a bit sceptical and I think…hmmm……but when you opened you mouth and started to sing, I was sold. I thought it was so beautiful, what a voice! Djeez! Stian: Thank you so much. Espen: I’m sitting here thinking «this was so amazing exactly how it is, what can I contribute and help with in The voice?» At the same time I saw that Ina, the worlds biggest Les Miserables fan turned around and Tom (Matoma) started to cry, then I realized I have allready lost this match anyways…so I would rather spare myself of losing face .. «Your performance was incredible». Stian: A heartfelt thank you Yosef: Not to sell myself short, but you shouldnt have to care about the rapper today. (everyone laughs)… You were great! Matoma: OMG Yosef, I love you! Ina: This was a role, you played a role today. You were Jean Valjean. It was beautiful. I think vocally speaking, I have a lot to offer you. If this is what you want to do? I think it can be valuable for you. Matoma: throughout your performance I heard your soul. That was what I was so moved by. Ina may have more experience on the musical front but I have, when it comes to the spiritual contact which I feel musicals is about. I have played classical music all the years…. Ina: But let us ask you. What do you want to do ? How do you see yourself going forward. Stian: I want an unbelievable journey and if that gives me more musicals or other challenges, time will tell… Matoma: You have to listen to your gut feeling. I feel Ina and I have given you the information you need, so everything is up to you. Stian: I had actually chosen before I went in,without knowing if that person turned around. I’m choosing Ina. Ina: Ohhh…Yes! That made me happy. Thank you for your trust. How incredible you were. Matoma: You were totally amazing (and he hugged him on the way out)

Impressive professional vocals - sounds great. The thing I notice is how it really is the arrangement/orchestration that lifts his long notes. That goes with the the style of music but sounds very dramatical. I just really prefer the singers who display their own take on a song.
