I was one of those guys who went to the Oppressor/Immolation/Brutal Truth/Cannibal Corpse show in 1997 only knowing Cannibal. Brutal Truth went on third, ripped by head open, , and made me a fan for life. I emptied my wallet at the merch table (Kill Trend 10" and a few 7"s) and never looked back. Still one of the best 3 shows I've ever seen in my life! Thanks Dan!

Hey Timothy. I'm not going to get into an argument because all you Americans seem to do is fight like left or right is a football team or everyone is a mean toddler and I don't think its respectful or productive. What appeals to you about him? Genuinely curious. I don't think any other country would elect him - he doesn't seem to be that good at the job. What he's said about folks of other races and religions comes across pretty awful too. Aren't you curious about who the other option is? What if they had more to offer you? Thank you! I'd say the religious right's stranglehold on many modern policy decisions plays a role here ... the current culture of fear mongering does make the world a bit more nervous and risk-averse. But that's just my theory, open to others' interpretations of course. :)

I can't say I quite see it the same way myself, but I suspect our politics/worldviews are bit different in general, so it informs our observations accordingly I am sure. I will add though, I'm no fan of the religious right myself (or religion period) so while I don't honestly see the things you do the from the same perspective, I can still understand your concerns, of course. I am in the lower Northeast USA. (I have seen Mr. Lilker live many times as a result, haha!) I do believe things have drifted toward a more progressive landscape on the whole. Whether that is a good or not is indeed debatable I suppose, depending upon how one sees the world, societies, etc. But you bring up something that seems to be having a huge and rather disturbing effect on this phenomenon either way - hyper-sensitivity and being offended by everything. Clearly, both sides of the ideological spectrum engage in this, but it seems the Left has taken this to levels heretofore unknown in recent years, and we now live in a stifling socio-political climate, where most everyone seems terrified of "offending" someone, anyone, anything, and dare not say anything that departs from the arbitrarily "accepted norm" of the moment, etc. This is obviously WAY out of step with the sensibilities that were common to the old thrash-metal era etc. Whether bands back then leaned Left or Right or neither one, they had opinions all over the place, and that was good! They were able to say things others may not have agreed with, but could "agree to disagree" and such as well. In the decades since, we have moved far away from this - rather obviously to me. I believe disagreement is healthy. Violently attacking dissent from the popular dogma of the day on the other hand, is not.
