I've always wanted to do the Targa NFLD. I have yet been to the Rock as well. Nice video and may the road be in your favor.

I thought the roads in New Jersey were bad. They're 'freshly' paved compared to NL roads. Looked like great fun nonetheless
@GravelTrapRacing Жыл бұрын
Lol this is a “freshly paved/repaired” road here in NL. You should of seen the road for Day 2 Stage 1&2 !

Texas? Crazy? BIG speed?
@johnross6314 Жыл бұрын
Randy… Next season, stay in the states. I will team with you at Sand Hills, and Silver State Challenge. I have been a participant. Courses up to 100 miles long. Plus, early flying mile racing, and other fun. Check it them out. Let me know. As normal, great content.

Race all things! Sure? 200 mph?
@johnross6314 Жыл бұрын
@@randypobstofficial record for unlimited at Silver State Challenge was 219.6mph or so over the 100 mile long road (last time I checked). Otherwise there are various speed classes which start around 95mph, and go to up to 180mph. Those you timed classes. Whoever is closest to the exact time wins. In the larger entry competitive speed classes, .0008 second can differentiate between first and second. Various strategies for this. High tech from wheel rotation counts, to 4 channel GPS (each tracking up to 11+ sats), and other various methods. OR there are “old guard” (“old fart” racing team is one who some members use the basics) folks who compete with only a two mechanical stop watch set up. At various self check points on the course (fly by while moving, no stops) time is compared with what is marked as the precise time, with what the stop watches read. These “seasoned” older age competitors can and do beat those with the highest tech there is. You can imagine how the driver, even if very close to exact time at the end, has to “feel the course” that last mile, and last 100-500 feet to cross the finish line at the perfect time. As a driver, it is truly the closest thing to “listen to the force” in a X-Wing Star Wars fighter in the groove firing the cannons at the exact time to wipe out the Death Star…. A driver (or driver+navigator team) can be dead on right up until that point of the final feet, yet goof it up at the end by sub fractions of a second, placing them instead of 1st, 21st. Hope that makes sense. Obviously the one unlimited class, whoever is fastest, does not need the Jedi Knight feel like those running in their respective speed class. This interesting to you? Oh, I just noticed I did not mention BBORR races in Texas. Big Bend is essentially the same as Sand Hills, and SS Classic series. Different courses, different challenges, same type of class system.

Awesome! Does it feel faster driving in km/h rather than mph? 😂

This class top speed allowed is 140km/Hr with a average or 120 If I remember correctly. Fastest class for targa is 180km/Hr top speed with average of 140km/Hr. Trust me this stage was probably the smoothest road of any. Want to keep your tires for the full rally you are not going to want to hit those speed everywhere lol Ask Randy how the bumps are lol

@@GravelTrapRacing I noticed a lot of cold patches on the road & the car looked like it was jolting around in certain spots on the course. It’s hard to keep roads pristine in places with adverse seasons.
@randypobstofficial Жыл бұрын
On every stage, we are limited in this street car class to 130 kph, about 80 mph. It much more fun when thcorners are tight enough that 80 gets us near the limit. I'll post some tighter ones. good fun. A week long. 300 miles of stages. Targa Newfoudland.
