The amount of memories this video brought back was insane. I have hiked that path several times. Once with my father when I was at Camp Joy for Boy Scouts. My family would picnic at Stone Cliff and I would play on the rocks as a child. I never knew how it got its name. My neighbors in Laureldale were the Dugans. I know his son was MIA in Vietnam. I never knew that he had a memorial at the park. Just mind blowing. Thank you Cliff.

I got a old mule and her name is Sal, 15 years on the Erie Canal. We pulled some barges in our day, filled with lumber, coal and hay, 15 years on the Erie Canal. 😂🤣🤪☺️

There's no way, you'd be nearly 200 years old

You passed the Kissinger House where there are remnants of the blacksmith shop that serviced the canals metal needs. It is about a 1/4 mile above Stone Cliff Park.

Just yesterday, Dec 16th was a spectacular day, so my wife and I rode our bikes from Red Bridge to the Schuylkill River trail and followed it till it went on the highway. After watching your video, I now see where we should have taken that spur to the confluence. We will be back to ride the opposite way when we can. We never rode in that area and was impressed with the quality of the parks and trails.

Nice job, Cliff! Obviously the Union Canal was not a high value historical artifact to preserve. Only a few remnants left to see. Thanks for hunting for them!

That was quite interesting. Thought the old mill site was too, minus the graffiti. My GG Grandfather was a canal boat operator along w his father up there, give or take the 1840's era. Was neat seeing some of that. I live in TN and can't see much of my family's original stomping grounds. Thanks for showing us!

Fabulous again thanks Cliff. Such a shame the canals were stopped. What a lovely trek that was. I’m so pleased you found the culvert you seemed quite put out that you couldn’t find it.. loved that last bridge, such gorgeous stonework. So enjoying this series. Please stay safe and take care

Thank you for this adventure, Cliff. The canal and the locks are nearly impossible to find. Time and progress have wiped them out. (And I am glad you came through safely.)

Those stone in the landscape area at the end if the video...probably came from the lock and were just reused (why the lock is no longer there).

Don't know if you have ever explored the Delaware Canal on the Pa side going thru New Hope, very scenic and lots of locks left.

On satellite view, you can see where the canal started, but the first lock is completely gone.
