38 West Canal St? It's only 99,900. Yikes, inside needs lots of work!

It looked like most of the windows in that warehouse still had unbroken glass in them. Wouldn't you live to own property like that? Boy,I would. After supper you could go for a leisurely stroll along the canal on your own property. Good video as usual, loved all the bird songs. Looking forward to your kayaking video. As always, be safe.❤❤

I find it funny when those complaining about needing to request permission yet often, they get very grumpy if anyone sets foot on their land. remember you will never keep everyone happy and you did your art warning them nothing more you can do.

Great video as always Cliff, these historical canals really get my imagination going. And its always great to see another in the series. As for your private property messages, it is because you are so respectful that people allow you on their land. Some people are just going to complain, always. THANKS CLIFF!!

Looks like 28 and 29 are gone.... however..... Cliff will get a closer look if the water company (28W) and the realtor (29W) grants him permission..... so there is still a change.

My fifth grade teacher told us there was a tynnel between the Union Cannel House an the big white building across the street. But it's been many years since I was in school.

Thanks for posting. Found a couple of articles that mentioned the tunnel. One article has tunnel for escaping from Indians before and during the French and Indian War. Other article has tunnel part of the "underground railroad" that was used by runaway slaves. .....maybe both

We have lost so much of what our ancestors gave their blood, sweat, toil and tears to build. They hoped to build for their descendants, and those descendants scorned what they built and allowed it to cave in, fall to ruin, and return to wilderness. Its enough to make me cry.
@mgratk7 ай бұрын
Well it served it purpose for its time. And its operation helped transport goods and provide income for people. So in that way it lives on, and the area would be far different if it were never there.
@tedrice10267 ай бұрын
Part of that is our property tax system. If a building outlives its usefulness, you still have to pay taxes on it. If you fix it up, you pay MORE taxes on it. There are no tax credits for historic preservation. So it is more economical to let it sit and rot.
@thirzapeevey23957 ай бұрын
@@tedrice1026 That is absolutely true. It means that the government is facilitating the loss of our history.
@mgratk7 ай бұрын
@@tedrice1026 Yep and the only real property owner is the government. If you don't believe it, try not paying those property taxes.

11:49 Isn't that "S" up on the bricks used to support the structure and/or brickwork? Like a brace? I'm not sure what the word is for them. 🤔 Thanks for another great video.

Fyi this area is called union deposit because it was a main artery for civil war soldiers to deposit at camp curtin.

I would hope that property owners would be understanding if you accidentally trespassed on the edge of there land. Then again, being so close to the trail it might happen quite often and perhaps could become irritating. All we can do is be respectful and hope for the best.

The owners should add a sign stating "Private Property"
@lukeyznaga76277 ай бұрын
No I don't think they would. Not in our "new" American culture. Way too many people now have bad culture and upbringing and are upright. This generation is NOT like the kind, country culture of even 30 years ago
