Sad to me as well; I live just two blocks from where a huge, historic hotel/resort once stood, and it, too, was torn down, too far gone to restore (built mid-19th century.) I look at that fireplace, and wonder how many evenings were spent by it, both happy times and sad. I also wonder if the skeleton is still under all the rubble...guessing they should have a decent grave.

Cliff, When we lost our27 acre farm where I lived until I was 18, it was very sad. Taxes did us in ,but even sadder was the person who had the fire department come in and born our Victorian Farmhouse to the ground! All we have is a handful of photographs, but you have modern technology which has allowed you to revisit that charming place. Our farm fields, just across the road, have been houses for many years, but they never built on the house side, good Karma for me and my memories!! Thanks This was nostalgia for both of us, eh? Rik

I like old houses with steps that sag, And worn picket fences running zig-zag, like little children playing tag. Happy old houses with thresholds worn thin, By young ones and old ones who walked out and in. I like old houses that squat in the rain, That have welcomed the years and sheltered the pain Of knowing they wait for a loved one in vain, Crazy old houses that bask in the sun, browned like a crusty flaky bun. I like old houses that patiently wait, for a new friend’s hand on the creaky gate- knowing that love is never too late. Houses sagacious- like prophets of old; Knowing so many things they never have told Poet-Jennie Romano 😢😢😢

I can so relate to this video, I used to have an old house on Horsham rd. A local inn keeper (Joseph ambler inn) had the house moved a few miles up the road to his collection of original local farms. He is very into the local history. I always wanted to purchase this house when I would drive by it on the road side. I’m grateful he adopted it. I have stayed in the house now that he has refurbished it. The house is the Thomas Wilson house is the house he rescued that I always wanted to buy. Love you videos

The comment you made that - " things get old and then they pass away " is so true and that hit my heart deeply . So many places , people , and happenings from my past that i'll never see or feel again . I am 71 , things are not so well with my body and my time here is coming to a close .. When I visit places of the past they don't look the same , either floods , fires , mankinds progress or time itself has drastically altered them , yet there are shadows in my mind of how they once were and even the loved ones that shared them with me appear .. It might just be a cottage in the woods to some , but I think I feel the same vaccum in the heart that you felt as you stand there searching memories to bring it back to life . I don't know your status on faith in God , that's your business , not mine . I have deep faith in Him and it helps accept what time has taken from me , the people time has taken away . I try to hang on to the happiness experienced , the love shared , the joy of memory , and a decision to live in the moment i'm given . That's all I can count on anymore , and that is good enough for me . Keep smiling friend and keep the great videos coming , we appreciate all your efforts ..

You said it, captured it, put perfect music to it, man.... my heart is 💔 too. RIP old white wood house by the creek that lay there with all it's memories of it's golden years and all the voices of children and adults and the memories of all the hard work, and sounds of laughter, people and children playing and sounds of crying and droplets of tears, school days, hospitality meals and the hardship of raising a family. It served it's people well. RIP. Beautiful video Cliff.💙

Sixty some years ago I went with my parents for a picnic at a cabin owned by a coworker of my mother’s. It was the cabin at what would become frog hollow and was owned by, I believe the Reed family. Many years later I went to what is now frog hollow. When I saw the cabin it was a major case of Deja vu.

Judging by the older pictures it looked like the roof was starting to leak then. It probably could have been saved back then. If the get rid of the debris and fill it in the old would make a good outdoor fireplace and possibly a good campsite.

It would be cool if you could get a few boards fron the old house and have a wood worker make a small project such as a clock for you. I made a Shaker table for my grandson to use as a desk from some Wormy Chestnut boards that were taken from a old house near where I live. I played there as a kid and it was special to me as well as the folks who lived there. Sorry your dream house is gone.

So sorry for your loss. Sorry, too, you never got a chance to live in the little white cottage in the woods and fix the place up. I fell in love with an old house tucked back in some woods a long time ago. I wasn't in a position to buy it at the time. No one seemed to be interested in it. Once in awhile, I would go visit it, but eventually, the lovely old house was torn down. I remember crying when I saw that. I don't know why people often can't love and appreciate old places. It seems wrong just to let them sit and rot and either collapse or be torn down. Such is life, I guess.

There is a beautiful old farmhouse that is in the same situation as this. It's on the Fed Ex property off of Race Street on Willowbrook Road outside of Catasauqua, PA. The barn next to the home has already collapsed. I shot some pictures of it the winter before the barn collapse. Sadly, it will just sit and rot until it meets the same fate as "your house".

Sorry Cliff. It looked like a magnificent little house with much history to it. I do know how you feel; here where I live and grew up at, we have some old homes that I really one to have but unfortunately some of them were torn down. Some of these homes go back to Victorian times in which Those houses were designed with much style and had much history to them. But sadly they were either torn down from being too old or for modern buildings. It's such a shame for when they're gone they're pretty much gone. I myself really love and enjoy an older home in contrast to a modern one.

I'm sure many of us have a romantic idea of these old structures and saving them. I know I hate to see one torn down, But we all know the reality of it is that unless maintained on a regular basis they quickly fall into irreversible disrepair. Nature it seems has a different idea of romance and quickly reclaims the land.

They're probably going to pour some kind of kerosene or something on it and just burn it where it lies at it would be a lot cheaper than moving it and hauling it away once it's burnt it turns to ashes that's normally what they do with those structures it's just burn them once they get tore down makes it easier to take care of they can just bury it after that and be done with it

Camera is out of focus. One of my sister, remark at my father's funeral that "Our house grew up with us." My parents bought the lot and had a small frame house place on it when my second sister was born July 1953. Two of my three sisters got married at least few times and have children and grandchildren. My oldest sister stays with the house and look after our parents until both parents passed away. But we have always come back to the house, like the Waltons. Dad had left the house in his Will to my oldest sister and me. But I got a place of my own and became too much of tax burden, so I sign off my half and my oldest sister became the sole owner. Years later and just this past December my oldest sister passed away, and through legal actions we require ownership of the house, clean out the best we could, sold the property and the house. We knew that there was no way of saving it, so it was agreed that it would be demolished.

Hello Cliff, I am sorry, so sad. Goodbye sweet cottage by the babbling brook. Real wooden shutters are from a long time past. My impressions, from your original video, are that whoever left, loved that house. It was cleaned with no clutter left behind. In my mind's eye, the woman of the house took great care to leave a clean house behind because she cared, just as I would have. I noticed very low hanging branches over the roof, these may have destroyed the roof and the house, Maybe, like some things in life, it's better to remember them the way they were. Love your videos. Best to you.🥲Thank you.
