I feel like taking a Pre-Heresy helmet and painting it in the Iron Warriors scheme would be better cause Cawl wouldn't just kill off old marines. He would want his Primaris to replace them, yes, but he wouldn't kill them. Other than that, looks really good.

The black viper turned out really good, I'm impressed at how consistent the quality of these guys turned out. Have you considered doing a popular homebrew chapter at some point like the Blood Jaguars?

It's not an idea about new primaris exclusive successor, but you could make Iron Snakes primaris with hoplon/aspis (hoplite shield). They are officially Ultramarines successors, but I've seen theories, that they might be loyalist Alpha Legion remnants (traitor legions loyalist remnants joined Ultramarines during Horus Heresy). Their homeworld is Ithaka - it's mostly covered in seas and every marine tends to always carry a vial of it's salty water as amulet. They don't use companies, only 10 man squads ("phratries") that fights, until all it's marines die. Then they make a new squad with the same name in it's place - each squad is named with the name of squads first comanders during chapter founding. Their every chapter master takes the name of the first chapter master (Seydon). They also have literal phalanx tactic. Their armory has enough shields short swords and spears to supply every marine with it. Their neophytes don't serve as scouts, bu as servants, they follow behind marine, stand behind phalanx, carry spears and reload boltguns for the frontline fighters. Their spears also can be used as javelins and are called sea lances, so not a trident, but maybe their blade-tip is shaped like a trident's singular blade-tip, like with the aditional tips on the backs, like here ^ instead of classical diamond or leaf shape. Their shortsword could be shaped like classic greek xiphos sword. They are also known to use tracking dogs, especially against dark eldars, every squad has it's own apothecary and (I took this part from 1d4chan so nothing certain) standard bearer. In conclusion it would be cool to see primaris with xiphos sword, trident-bladed spear, big hoplon (maybe made from T'au drone top), Mark III helmet variant (one looks a little like greek or mandalorian helmet) with added plum, some blue-green painted vial and shoulder pad with a scroll, where his squad name could be written. He could also have cape and muscle sculpted armor (like sanguinary guard/stormcast eternals). It could even be made into a bigger project on bigger base, where some dog, or even servant acompanies him. Here comes even more crazy idea: it could be made into a genre scene where one full squad stands in three lines. four astartes with spears form shield wall, while in the second stands commander, with xiphos sword and pistol, standard bearer with a pistol, guy with dog by his side and special weapon and astarte mid javelin throw. In third line there is apothecary tending to a wounded marine with classic boltgun and 2 servants doing servant stuff, one reloading bolter and one carrying javelins. I know some of this ideas may be a little (or very) excessive, but you get the general idea. Also as for dead bits, you could use dead dark eldar or dead ork bits, as Iron Snakes did fight against both.

It's Steel Confesors. They were literally founded in secret by the Mechanicus, to be their private chapter. Inqusiton discovered it and forced marines to change into independent chapter. They still maintained close ties with the Mechanicus and they are known as testers of best and newest technology, that is supposed to go to the marines, but isn't mass produced yet. If Cawl wasn't so secretive in creating primaris tech, then Steel Confessors would probably be the first to get primaris tech. As for primarch, he is unknown, because of the secretive founding, but everyone suspects Ferrus and it's probably true. Speaking of Ferrus, there is another Iron Hands successor, Sons of Medusa (one of the more known really), who maybe not have unique tech, but they do have lots of vechicles and heavy duty stuff. Obviously Ferrus and in the second place Vulcan are most obvious primarch geneseed choices for chapters working with Mechanicus.
