Back in 2010, my first decently new car was a 2007 Honda Civic SI that I purchaed used with 30,000 miles, right after graduating from college and moving out on my own. I had buyer's remorse shortly after, not because it wasn't reliable but because I got bored with it quickly. I remember when the Ralliarts came out, and there was a new orange one at the dealership near me that I drooled over and wanted badly. Probably the only Ralliart I've actually seen until purchasing the beater sportback I recently did. I have thought, on several occasions now, 'THANK GOD I did not cave and trade the Honda of these cars back then!!!!' 🤣

Just found this video after seeing it linked up on the SST owners group, and watching a few of your other videos. I'm a newcomer to the EVO/SST world after buying a broken down 2010 Ralliart Sportback with a non working SST. I got it moving again after swapping in a beat up used valve body, but it's definitely worn and in need of rebuild. I plan on doing it, and like to consider myself a gear head (mostly on boats and bikes admittedly), and I admit that I'm nuts for even thinking about it. It'll be an adventure for sure. I am always intruiged at the mention of the 'proprietary fixes' or processes by the expert shops (not just these guys, but several others as well) and always wonder what those are, and who the other shops are they are mentioning. Can't say I blame them for not freely sharing everthing they've learned and developed over the years! There is so much good info in here, thanks for posting this one together and positing it up!

Great video once again Jackson, answered my question about readjusting ss clutch pressures for driving in normal mode, now gonna spend the rest of my afternoon researching Syvecs ECU’s. Also was great to understand the fact that if you upgrade you’re clutch packs for more plates, they become thinner and won’t last nearly as long, I guess you can’t upgrade the size of you’re clutch basket huh.
@CDTJosh3 жыл бұрын
Not only that, the amount of clamping force inside can actually destroy stock clutch baskets and torque dampeners, so alot of the time, these are recommended upgrades for the big builds. People dont realize, when kozmics using their 14 plate clutch builds, they're rebuilding them after every 2 events or so. As far as Syvecs is concerned, start saving.... XD
@jasonsmith9143 жыл бұрын
@@CDTJosh yeah I know right, there not cheap😳
@nathanpallavicini66873 жыл бұрын
No this is just wrong. Your clutch fibre discs are the same thickness, different brands have different hardness this is what causes some people issues with clearance. It's the steels that are thinner. Majority of the time it's just bluing or heatsoak of the steels that cause the slipping not the fibre discs You can of course get a deeper clutch basket and set a 14 plate clutch. SSP one other brand I forget right now out of Europe have done amazing clutch baskets

Hey Jackson! Good video mate, as always! Just a few more questions from my side (will also post them in Facebook): 1. Is Castrol Transmax dual safe to continue using 2. Regarding S-Sport. Do the guys think it's safe to use S-Sport when SST is still cold? What I do is start with Sport (stay below 4k rpm) and when temp reaches 70 C and I'm about to trash it, then I go on to S-Sport.

another question, what mode should sst using for avoid clutch worn out? for daily driven sst
@JacksonStrain2 жыл бұрын
S Sport mode is the best as it doesn't slip the clutches. Although the SST TCU has been cracked recently and they're now able to turn the clutch pressures up in normal mode which is a big win
@sethanolson84703 жыл бұрын
When getting the sst to temperature is it better to drive in normal to get to temp then switch to ss mode manual? Or should it be ss mode all the time just with gentle driving until it reaches temp? I have an 11 MR and want to learn more about the trans. Thanks!
@JacksonStrain3 жыл бұрын
S-sport the entire time is better but you can use normal or sport it's just allowing more clutch slip so will get to temp a little faster but potentially at the risk of wearing the clutches a little more I guess

@@JacksonStrain ok the mr is a bit faster but you ask any real driver to choose the sst over the manual I pretty sure that most will choose the manual and are you even listening to yourself by saying”only if you want to go slower” go on KZbin and check out powertune evo x 500kw at all 4 wheel let see if the your sst gearbox can do that.

@@SuperBrandonle mate I've been driving manual for over 15 years and chose a dual clutch auto as they're just better now, have you ever driven one? Have you compared a 5 speed manual Evo X to a 6 speed dct Evo directly back to back? Well I have and I prefer the dct auto by far. My car makes 300kw and runs 0-60mph in 3.2 and 1/4 mile in 11.5 while being perfectly streetable and daily driven. If you're reccomending videos go check out the the 700hp Ralliart in Sydney which is also a daily driver and did 1 1/4 mile in low 10s before getting asked to leave due to no roll cage

@@JacksonStrain all your sst gearbox making those high number let’s be honest how much did they spend modifying the sst I’ll say a lot At the end of the day stock sst and stock 5 speed manual stock manual can handle more power end of story.
