We're getting loads of info about your lessons learned every few seconds, and it's great that you go into the details. I really hope A-10 II breathes more life into this project, as it seems to have already done.

Awesome content. Another way to get a metal effect is to use silver Duct tape. That is made out of aluminium sheeting. Simply cover all of your 3D printed parts with it before painting, then scuff up the wear with scotch bright or steel wool. the paint will rub off exposing the metal below.

I do wonder if ever you want to do one step further and to actually project the HUD elements to your little plexiglass screen. Would that be possible with the current implementation of DCS? I'd imagine some calibration would be required and getting a compatible HUD projector would be very difficult, if not impossible.

this is truly awesome work! I am mind blown at all your videos of this project! I have had a similar idea for making a button panel as you have shown in this video and it might be obvious, but are your buttons made of two pieces of acrylic? (the top piece sized down from the bottom so that the button is retained within the faceplate). hope that makes sense. hard to tell in the video I'd the buttons themselves are indeed 2 pieces bonded together. cheers!

@thewarthogproject4 жыл бұрын
Cheers! I use Rustoleum 2X Grey Primer, and Rustoleum 2X Flat Black. For the 3D prints, don't be afraid to spray the primer very heavy and very wet, then sand and repeat. I also use Tamiya filler putty for the joins between printed parts. Weathering is just simple dry brusing with some Tamiya satin aluminium. It's basically just model aircraft making, at 1:1 scale!

Hey man can you make a video where you explain/show how you did all the keymapping of the different switches in dcs? I got the problem that with toggle switches i have to put them in the on position to toggle it in game, then cycle it once more (to the off and then again to the on pos.) to turn it off again in game and its starting to annoy me like crazy.
@thewarthogproject4 жыл бұрын
You can edit the DCS lua to stop that- however it's much easier to program all your switches using other software- helios- rather than binding it all in DCS. That software runs the gauges, but it also binds every switch. Link is in the description FAQ section.

Hi. Relatively new to your channel (maybe three weeks ago), and have binged watched a bunch of your videos. I'm in total awe at what you've created there. It almost makes me wonder why the full size aircraft needs a $500,000 UFC when yours is probably 90% as good for, (I'm guessing), $250 - $300.cockpit. Of course I'm not serious; I realise that these things have to be able to withstand a lot more under operational conditions, but none the less, you have created an absolutely amazing version of the Have you given any thought to putting the entire set up onto a 3 axis gimbal? That would be TRULY AWESOME; and I'm sure you could do it. Then you could hire it out to USAF to recoup your investment - lol. Great work. Looking forward to your next video. Regards Mark in the UK

If I could ask man, What are you using for the HUD combiner? Teleprompter glass? There is a company called Edmund Optics by me that has the ability to coat a piece of large glass with a Notch Filter (As close as you can get to the other types of coatings normally used) but my god is it expensive. (700 USD per 1x1 inch last I checked) Haven't been able to find any other good alternatives to teleprompter glass besides that..

Hi m8, Great videos & so helpful. I am just starting a F 16 pit and have all the switch panels cut & ready to engrave. I'm now looking at starting to construct the F16 IPC(UFC) and starting to collect components(Switches/Potentiometers) being an absolute newbie to electronics I'm trying to get my head around all the different specs of potentiometers & resistors. Do you have any kind of list you have compiled with component details/types to use. Also regarding wiring of switches using a matrix is there a set way of doing this for different types of controllers(I'm using mainly the Arduino Pro Micro) or is it a common way for all types?. Cheers.

Yes, you can export the HUD, but i cant have anymore viewports without buying another grapics card. It would be great, but not worth that amount of money...
@jonshouse14 жыл бұрын
@@thewarthogproject I think you did not understand the question. On some flight sims you can send the flight instriment data over the network. I was talking about using a small ARM board (like a Raspberry Pi or similar) to drive a display. The board itself being connected to the simulator via Ethernet.
