WOW.....The amount of work these students put in must be staggering. My compliments to the bandsmen (and women) plus the director and his staff. The rank and file as well as the diagonals are amazingly precise. BRAVO !

I really don't like twirling drum majors. I wonder if they still get extra points in contests for the band by having the drum major twirl. I prefer a more dignified approach with the drum major using a mace in much the same manner as the British bands like the Royal Marines and the Household guard bands. Arcadia used to have that kind of drum major. At least the uniforms haven't changed much in 50 years.

Arcadia was a mace school before?

@@JeremyDrumMajorTutorials Back in the 1960's when Ron Hoar was the band instructor the mace was used. Mr. Hoar played trumpet in a Marine Corp band. That Marines still use the mace which I am sure influenced Mr. Hoar. I remember Mr. Hoar telling us in class about how bands with twirling drum majors were getting extra points added to their score. He thought about it but didn't change. I think there is video of the 1963 Rose Parade that captured the Arcadia High School band going down the street.
