Conor (one 'N' not two) likely doesn't ever fight again because with the millions he has in the bank, his fire is largely gone in terms of chasing the dream as ruthlessly as he did before the Mayflower fight. If he does come back and it's against Michael Chandler, Chandler will clean the corners of the octagon with him. If Conor comes back into the ring against someone as strong as Chandler, it'll be even more destruction on the little Irish lily than he got from Khabib. I would imagine if Conor does actually come back, it'll be for a legacy fight against someone who is as washed up as he is: Nate Diaz is the first one that comes to mind, and I think Nate takes Conor out again (although it won't be as humiliatingly as it would be if he fought someone like Chandler or Gaethje.) Actually, I'd LOVE to see a Conor/Gaethje fight. This may sound crazy but maybe he wasn’t that guy from the jump? He’s definitely a contender and can more than likely become champion again but Yan’s resume is still pretty weak. During his run, he fought a bunch of guys on their way out but when it came to fighting the actual new contenders, he’s fallen short. Of course Aljo 1 & the Sean fight were up in the air but idk where he really stands when it comes to that top 5. His best wins are Aldo & Cory but was able to turn his situation around while Petr hasn’t really been able to. This year will really impact Yan’s career and how fans will view him.

It's not about negative or positive sentiments. We know Izzy's chances against Strickland are very low. We know his chances against Khamzat aren't too good. Ironically his best match up would be against the champion Du Plessis, because DDP's biggest weakness is a good counter puncher. But something tells me Dricus chin will hold up even if he gets caught cause Adesanya doesn't have all that much power.

@@ronror I was one of the people who said that Jones would steamroll Gane. Cause he'd have a factor that he hadn't had in a long time, motivation. MMA math doesn't work. Adesanya KOed Pereira, Pereira KOed Strickland therefore if this was math Adesanya should've KOed Strickland but styles make fights and Strickland's style just counters Adesanya's. That doesn't mean he can't make an adjustment and win but I don't think his chances of doing so are good given how dominant Strickland's performance against him was.

Here's what I was (poorly) alluding to there: Adensanya's entire career and life has been building towards beating Pereira. After tons of failures/humiliation ect. I can imagine, every cell in his being needed him to win that fight... And he finally did. Having actually won his life's greatest challenge... It's not surprising that he fatigued and fought terribly against a lesser striker (in Strickland). Again, my point wasn't "MMA math" BUT it was about all dominant champions eventually underperforming (from either comfort or fatigue).

It sucks to see things out of order but there is a benefit to putting on the huge fights. Whoever wins is leaving with huge hype behind them and that’s even better for whoever’s next. It can really fire up the division. I think the UFC learned their lesson with the whole Usman/Jorge/Colby situation. It was cool to see them fight each other but had they done it earlier then that division would have been even bigger than it was while Usman’ reign.

Once you get dismantled the way he did against Sean, its hard to see you ever reigning over the division again. Name one former champion who got dismantled and became champ again, I can't name a single one. Usually fights like that result in subsequent declines for the loser. And no I don't for one second believe Izzy had an 'off-night'. That's just a cope cop-out, Sean gummed up Izzy's works enough to make him a one-note striker and Izzy couldn't adjust because he's fought the same way for years; too reliant on leg kicks, unreliable hook counters and backing up to the cage.

Hey Weasle I've been following you for years and I must say these predictions are 100% spot on. I also have to say, based on these predictions, I don't think 2024 will be a very exciting year for the UFC. The only category I think it could be exciting it's Bantamweight. The others are full of fighters retiring, holding on titles or just... not great fighters capable of shocking the fans. I have this feeling that UFC is becoming a bit a of lackluster thing. Look at LW division, we used to say it was full of killers, and now, who could beat Islam? And the WW division or the other divisons going up... no amazing fighters, no great fights coming up (example: Jones vs Aspinall, that would be great but it will never happen). I feel like we are in for a year full of fill-in fights, nothing more than that. I am disappointed, I wonder if you feel the same.
