Culturally there were as poles apart as two people could be. But complimenting natures bonded them to each other even though they knew that their families would never agree to the match.
Rasneet and Akshay couldn’t fathom a life without one another. From understanding each other’s silences to being the voice of solace and consolation in testing times, they were with each other through thick and thin.
Hidden to the world, their relationship went from strength to strength in a cocoon of purity and joy. Even though they came from different faiths in the eyes of the world, their faith in their love melted the hearts of the families till the day Akshay’s father walked in with a Sat Sri Akal (a greeting in Punjabi) and won the hearts of Rasneet’s family.
Just as everything seemed to be finally on track, the families surrendered to the will of destiny (Taqdeer) in a sad turn of events.

Weddings between dharmic Punjabi's has existed since the beginning of Sikhi. Punjabi Hindus and Jains married each other, Punjabi Hindus and Sikhs, now Punjabi Jains and Punjabi Sikhs. In all likelihood these two are from the same jaati (clan) and so both parents agreed. You see this with Khatri's, Aroras, etc. both Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Buddhists. Either way, they have a beautfiul love story and may Brahman (God) and Mata Rani bless them with all the happiness and success in their married life.

Little correction- Sat Sri Akal is a greeting for Punjabi Sikhs specifically, not Punjabi as a whole. If you know someone you are greeting is a Sikh you would say Sat Srit Akal. If they're a Punjabi Hindu then Namaste. If they are a Punjabi Muslim then assalam waleykum or salam. Greetings tend to be faith based in Punjabi; doesn't really matter what your faith is you'd greet the person based on theirs. I would say namaste to a fellow Punjabi Hindu just like a Sikh friend would say namaste to me. I'd say Sat Sri Akal to a Sikh just like they would to another Sikh. It's a bit nuanced.
