Before anyone who doesn’t know what they’re doing attempts this, please understand he left out a lot of crucial information that may make it very difficult or impossible for you to do this. PLEASE READ before you cut holes in your wall. -in order to do this to code and have a wireless look you have to run romex behind the wall and install an outlet. Like he said, you can’t run a regular power cord through the wall. So unless you know how to fish romex and install a new outlet, you won’t be totally wireless or you’ll have to hire an electrician. -sometimes there is extra blocking in the wall that runs horizontally between the two studs, so if you have your pass through outlets above and below that blocking you won’t be able to actually fish the line through, unless you have some more specialized tools. A stud finder should be able to show you if this will be an issue, but just be aware.

Most power cords for things like tv's, game systems, and power strips are rated at a minimum of 75° C = 167F. Most new-ish cords are rated at 90° C = 194° f..... so ya, it's safe in almost every application.... unless you have a damn furnace in the wall the heat is a non issue. @@Jiphoune Many homes in the UK built after the 1980s are brick but with a dry wall liner. There is a narrow cap between the brick and dry wall but cross bars would prevent looping through cables like this. I guess it adds insulation and is cheaper than employing a plasterer who can cement over the bricks and then apply plaster smoothly.

Thumbs DOWN he doesn't show the power cable running a power cable through those low power holes is against US code because it's dangerous. He says heat, but it's not correct to run high power cable through the same opening as low power cable. All the cables need to have the same power rating in case the insulation on the high power cable is compromised. The low power cables could then be energized. The fact You Tube hides thumbs down is a disservice to us and could be very dangerous in cases like this.

Great video… what would you recommend if the outlets aren’t in a straight line i.e. middle of the wall for the TV and bottom left of the wall for the outlets?
@mitchholobowicz1941
@mitchholobowicz1941 2 жыл бұрын
If they aren't straight in line with each other, you most likely have make additional holes in the dry wall as well as making holes through the studs.
@DR.K14
@DR.K14 2 жыл бұрын
@@mitchholobowicz1941 not necessarily. Most IWPK come with a long enough power cord that goes from the IWPK to the outlet already on the wall. You can still go vertical with your kit and connect to an outlet on the wall

So, just to confirm, I shouldn’t run my TV power cord? I plan on running an Optical, AV, and 3 HDMI’s through. So how do I conceal the TV Cable if I shouldn’t send it through?

Yeah this will do only in the US housing which majority of walls made out of a cardboard. My rock solid walls made out of a concrete can’t do. I’ll stick to the wireless alternative, see ya!

While this is a nice look, it definitely convinces me how much the aesthetics isn't worth it. Need to disconnect the cable and connect it to something else (a laptop parhaps)? Good luck getting it. Want your console to sit somewhere else? The cable is through the wall, good luck with that. And with a hole in the wall, you open up the possibility of pests getting into your walls. Really ain't liking it.

So...where's the power cord for the tv? You said it yourself in the video that basically it's unwise to run power cords through/inside the wall as some heat up enough to present a safety hazard. Is that tv powered ...wireless? I doubt it given the brand name ;)

If the power cable gets hot ,than it is the wrong gauge wire for the load and should never be used under any circumstances inside or outside of the wall .For me,I wouldn't worry one iota of putting a power cable in the wall because I would be aware of the gauge of wire and if thinking is too hard ,use a thick extension cord 😐💁🏻‍♂️

99% done, you can see the wire from the Switch, boo hiss. I am just trying to cable manage at the moment, and failing miserably, but in the UK the majority of houses are stone or brick so we cannot do all of this, so our solution is cable trunking.
