I have been tying some Wolfs lately and this gave some great insight into some of the materials and steps. I really enjoy hearing the philosophy behind the fly. Thanks

I started tying flies yesterday (6/24/2018) and really enjoyed your narration and practical tips. I'll try one of these later this week.

How are you doing today with tying? I started in August of this last year 2022. So 4.5 months ago.

I am envious that you knew Lee Wulff, I believe his wife is still alive. I have seen them on film and counted myself lucky to have seen it. All the best and thanks for sharing. Sean

I also prefer a (sparse) hair wing, it better suggests motion. Very well tied! 👍

Thanks for sharing this fly and the history behind the fly. I've tried tying flies in hand before, it's quite a challenge. Would have liked to se Lee tie one of these. Cheers 🍻

I've learned this whip finish, not as fast as this guy, but I dont use it often because my hands get pretty rough, and rough hands wreck UTC and GSP thread pretty fast! So even if i do the whip right, the goofed up and broken fibers of the UTC thread/GSP dont pull through well and end up making a mess of things.

I can see that being the case. Thanks for watching and sharing your own experience with the whip finish. -H
