Tremendous masterpiece! Sounds amazingly fresh and contemporary. It's also great to hear a performance conducted by Milhaud himself.

The symphonies of Darius Milhaud were composed after the WW2 (except the first one), at a time when he had found s style of its own and adopted a form of "neoclassicism". Thios is the style used in his beautiful 8th symphony, which evokes the river Rhone, from its birth i the glaciers of Alpas to his mouth in hte Mediterranean
