Martinú breathes a fresh air in the period that serialism was en vogue.

Late Martinu - fascinating and engrossing.

Short passages from Martinu's masterpiece Symphony Number One can be heard throughout this most intriguing work.

A late score from Martinu, in which he seems to feel the need to vary his style - which is much more tiny than usual. In spite of the title, this score is by no ways a return to impressionism. It is a kind of seamless composition of elusive motives, which turn more firm and precise in the heart of the score before evading again.💜💙💚💛🧡❤❤❤🧡💛💚💙💜

It could be quoted as "^post-imptessionist" without any "Debussysm". Note the role of piano. Definitely to be rediscovered and played again.

Actually mid-20c expressionist-romanticism, a unique and delightful exposition of this composer's final thoughts.

This is a very personal alternative how concert music could have gone.

Einfach wunderbar!

I don't clearly see the link, but I notice these three-part orchestral works with French titles, and think of Leifs' contemporaneous Trois Peintures Abstraites (1955). What was going on?

You simply cannot have too much Martinu

reminds me of Paul Pisk's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, Without Piano, Op. 51....thus, the piano part can be performed by almost anyone.
