Extending Wellington's Runway

Hope the airport gets extended very soon on the starting . Just watching the bigger planes take of it sure takes them the end of the runway .I am for it I live in Miramar love watching the airport the way it's growing . .. good luck with the next extension . Love the new tower . .

The council is thinking strongly about putting a light rail from the train station to the airport. There is an article on stuff about it.

That's a good idea Wellington Airport, but um, are you sure that long-haul flights and widebody jets will be compatible with the new runway?

Well, they can already land a 777-300 and a 747-200/300 there so Widebodies are already quite easily able to land. However, a 747-400 can only land with weight restrictions and an A380 is too heavy and too wide.

Shark YT: all widebody aircraft have a weight restriction, of course, the amount it is restricted by depends on the aircraft.

never do light rail, if you don't have rail tracks from yester year it is a miserable and poor idea to install new tracks
