Even if he dosnt stick with this, theese will be lessons that carry into his adult life. Like the adults are saying, he is learning communication skills, and how to have a love for a hobby. He is learning the same discipline and commitment and understanding that you would from any other competitive sport. I am a very pro youth sports person and wish him the best, whether being an Ump is something he makes into a career, or a hobby on weekend.

I umpired 10 years straight, even while in the USAF. I went into a shoe store one day and found Umpire Plate shoes that were my size. I still have my gear but I work nights. There's nothing like a freshly mowed lawn and stadium lights.

yo this kid umped at my game, he was nice cool and the best ump ever, thank you lathan for umping for ap baseball. One of the games you umped was anything outdoors vs. eastern.
