I would love to have a dentist like this! Growing up we went to a not very nice dentist who once told my little sister that he wasn't going to start until she let go of the chair arms. I disliked them so much I didn't go to a dentist for a very long time. Then my sweet parents paid for me to have braces (long story) for which I am very grateful. The orthodontist wasn't very nice either. He always managed to slip in a little comment that I couldn't quite put my finger on the reason why it made me feel so bad. I knew he was insulting me and he must've been really proud of himself insulting a patient. People forget what you say but they never forget how you made them feel.
Please keep going regularly, Periodontal disease does not 'stop'. Once you have that bacteria colonization, you have to forever - insteadyou make sure to keep it at bay as you do.
Poor guy, kudos to him getting the treatment, even though he must have been scared. Also I feel guilty giggling at the "pop" sound effect when you suctioned the loose teeth
I absolutely understand that fear. For some unknown reason, I was never ever given Novocaine for any dental work when I was a little girl. I had my cavities drilled and filled with nothing to help with the pain. Now I avoid the dentist like the Bubonic Plague. I actually became nauseous when I try to go. Plus, I have mild allergies and have a slight post nasal drip. So...if the dentist reclines the chair patients sit in, of course the drip increases. It just makes me even more agitated. So far, I haven't been able to fight this anxiety well enough to get the care I need.

There may be dentists who specialize in working with patients who have bad dental anxiety. You should try to do a search in your area. They can do things like laughing gas and sedatives if necessary.

There are many dentists who offer sedation! My friend also has severe dentist anxiety and requires sedation to get the care they need :)

I used to be afraid of dentists as a kid due to a root canal treatment, without proper sedation. Mom had to literaly drag me to the dentist after that. Today at 42 years old I'm so so thankful that she did what she did. Otherwise my teeth would be looking like that or worse. Forever thankful to my wonderful mom and my dentist. Life would be miserable without them. Edit: We changed doctors after the root canal thing.

@@lettherebedragons8885 I'm a nurse and i also worked as dental assistant before that's why i know these things. If it's local, it's injected to a specific site to numb that area only such as lidocaine. If it's sedation, it is introduced intravenously to knock you out such as propofol.
