I love this channel. Thank you for combining great camera work, humor and a first hand pragmatic education for trappers. Showing your sets from start to catch is really reassuring that anyone can do it too. This is the way it should be. Keep up the great work!

I love that beaver dam. I think you said mark your word you would get something there. I thought a wolf or wolverine. You will. Here is an old trick dad taught me I have not seen you use it so here it is my charge mention Tossdart said ok. To keep wet snow from freezing your paw traps cover them with the paper peeled from an old wasps nest. It is natural waterproof & easily found in winter as a rule. our cubbies were 1/2 tipi built against largest tree around taller at back & a bit closed in at front lynx don't like to step on but over drag so drag lay across door. I always shot as many snowshoes as possible & dragged them behind to trap then hung one kept fresh as possible at back. Lynx look up inside to do this they put paw on wasp nest. To attract them off trail a bit just like you with little trail then we hung a plastic players tobacco lid on a string by a corner where it can tap every so often onto something.
@TheWildNorth9 жыл бұрын
+Tossdart i have never heard of this method maybe i will try it out usually my traps dont freeze in it usually dont start melting in the winter always stays above freezing but who knows eh damn crazy warm weather
@Tossdart9 жыл бұрын
TheWildNorth Yes for sure crazy. Snow is melting again here I get worried about moose to east as no snow to eat. Make sure the round side of nest paper is up just like a ducks back.

Envious as all hell, I haven't seen a lynx track in my area this year. My wolf area has good sign but I am not allowed to take them there. Anyway, by the looks of your catches on the one side of the river, once you cross it should be an awesome year.

It's mild here in the tame south (of Canada), just as it is where you are. It'll snap to cold soon enough, then we'll forget this warmth. Hope you freeze up good there soon, so you can complete the circuit efficiently. You mentioned 30 miles in total on the line. Approximately what total area do you have access to, through which your trap line passes? Your videos are great, thank you for making and sharing them!

I enjoy your videos keep up the good work. I am just wondering you spend a lot of time on Lynx sets why do you not set for Martin and mink as well. Wouldn't it be more economical to set for them on the same trails. I talked to one trapper in my area and he is up around 48 Martin right now.
@TheWildNorth9 жыл бұрын
+Ken T i set martin boxes and mink traps as well as i stated in the first video of this series i mentioned i wont piss around with mink martin beaver or anything else till i have a few hundred lynx snares out and all my legholds and 330s for wolverine i trap because i enjoy it not to make a profit from it. i easily make enough profit too keep everything up and running do you know how hard i have to work to keep up with the lynx skinning and snare setting aside from all my cabin chores wood water cooking e.t.c my day starts at 7 am and usually finishes around midnight i usually dont have a whole lot of time on my hands oh and lets not forget about making and editing these videos that is also very time consumeing. so in the future you will see mink and martin sets but til then im a lynx trapper!

Another nice video, thanks. I have a question re. gloves. I almost freeze my fingers every morning watering , and cleaning up after my chickens, open and closing latch hooks, etc. I haven't found an appropriate pair of gloves that gives my fingers great move-ability. I see you are wearing plain wool gloves - just one pair? Grateful for suggestion/s. Happy trapping.
