I use to have FOMO a few years ago until I realize that those same things I thought I was missing out on will always be there. I can always go back to concerts, hanging out with friends, going to a festival, etc so no need to feel I am missing out. I enjoy missing out on things now because I get to spend time with God and crafting myself into what he sees me to be. It was hard but I am blessed to be at this stage now

I’m a 17 yr old girl and I deeply relate to this a lot. I’ve always had fomo and felt like I was never apart of the things I wanted to be apart of. Sometimes I did do things I was against just because I wanted to fit in and have friends for once. A lot of my intentions were innocent (wanting friends for example) but became foiled trying to so desperately be someone I wasn’t. This past year I’ve faced this again since I broke my ankle last June and it was a big blow to me. I spent the majority of my summer and school year indoors and recovering. There were some benefits to it, but I felt so left out and discouraged. I kept wondering what I did wrong to make this happen and I asked God so many times “why me?” I recently got sick and missed out on an event I was looking forward too and told God how sad it made me because once again I had to stay home. This video came right on time because for awhile I’ve been trying to change my perspective on these kinds of situations to see the good in them. I’ve been trying to change my mindset to not always see things as “missing out.” Whenever I don’t understand things in my life I always remember when Jesus says, “You don't understand now what I am doing, but you will understand later.” Even if God doesn’t always tell me why things happen I still trust that it was all for a purpose and that it’s working something out for my good ❤

My generation struggled with FOMO. And as a youth minister, I've noticed that the next generation doesn't struggle with FOMO but rather, FOGO (the fear of going out). Thanks for the self reflection and the insight. God bless.

As a Gen Z with Gen Alpha siblings, I can identify with both generations. You’re absolutely right our struggles are different and I appreciate you acknowledging that. However, it’s not a matter of FOMO or FOGO one more than the other, but we suffer with both A LOT. FOMO has only grown so much from social media and the internet(which we are undoubtedly exposed to no matter how good our parents protected us). And Covid is the huge reason for FOGO. Many lost their social skills they DID have and it stunted our development of them tremendously. It’s a lot.

FOMO to travel the world sometimes gets to me but I remind myself, I can be a tourist in my own city and explore new things. I can explore 50 other states before I’m itching for a stamp on my passport. 😅

Lately my mind has been full of negativity and doubtfulness and I can't concentrate on my school work and job I work at. My brain is full of fogness and cloudiness and sometimes I think maybe God has left me because I repent so much and fall back into the same sinful mindset like negativity and etc I think I may have caused all that

Same thing happened to me, countless times actually. God never leaves us. Even though our minds will try to convince us He has. Sin is an icky feeling, but none of us are perfect and God is patient with us, keep praying that He will help you through whatever you are struggling with. Satan will try and make you believe God doesn’t love you anymore but that is so far from true. Satan will also attack when God is at work in your life!! Trust me, God wants you to feel His peace and love. In the book of Luke, Jesus mentions a few different parables. He talks about how when we fight from our sin, the angels in Heaven sing. He also says that no matter how “bad”/disobedient we were, when we choose to make one* right decision, He and the angels all rejoice! Another thing to remember is He is our father, the last thing He is going to do is abandon you.

This has happened to me, but please read Isaiah 41:10.. God will not abandoned His children, God is love and He is faithful, so please don’t feel as if you’re alone, believe that God is with you and fighting for you.. and remember His mercies are new every morning.. will be praying for you in Jesus name. The same thing I was going through, I think I failed most of my exams because i couldn’t focus my brain was just full off negativity and doubtfulness, I’m glad I’m not the only one that is struggling, i hope and i pray God comes through to the both of us, it’s the enemy attacking us but he has no power to us, he shall flee from us in Jesus Name.

Israel really blocked their blessing because of FOMO. If we don't know who we are in Christ, then we'll chase things that aren't for us and miss things that are. But I don't think we can say Jesus had FOMO in the way that we do. Our FOMO comes from comparison to others. Jesus "feared" the weight of bearing our sin (praise God he did)!

This is awesome. But I will say that a fear of missing out on what God has for us and the assignment of our life is healthy. Like you should be healthily motivated to take opportunities that please God and be afraid to miss them cause you know you may not have that opportunity again. We don't want to be unconcerned and become passive and not strive for experiences and opportunities.
